Best QB in the state? What do y'all think?

Featured Replies

Drew Ellison - Covington Catholic

He is probably the best running QB,But BUrke is the best all around QB.

I haven't seen Burke, but I don't see how anyone can be a better quarterback than Ellison. He hasn't thrown too much because he has played great defenses, but his running and throwing are both great. He's a great leader

If you go by stats, Durell Olinger is at the top of the list without question...........he's leading the state in yards per game, percentage of completion, top 5 in td thrown. That's just my opinon, what do y'all think?

Who has Hazard played this season?

What about the K.J. Black (I think that is correct) from Fern Creek. I know that he was supposed to be one of the better QB's. in the state coming into the season. How is he fairing down in Louisville so far this season?

As far as the best Running quarterback goes, I would have to agree with Drew Ellison from Cov Cath. This kid has played absolutely amazing (with the exception of last week). That's what happens though when you play in the Spread Option offense.

I have only seen Will Fidler in the State Semi-Final last year and he spent most of that night running for his life from Joe Tronzo and crew so it was tough to judge his abilities. I would have to think that he must be the real deal considering the schools that were aggressively recruiting him.

Justin Burke, IMO, ranks up there with the best I have seen just a small step below Brian Brohm. Burke controls the game when he is under center. He is extremely intelligent, very accurate in his passing and very quick so there is not true way to defend him. He gets my vote after seeing him play 3 times against the Tigers. His Junior year he struggled against X, but he had a bad case of Tronzoitis that game as well.

If your talking Victor Anderson. My son a junior on the team at St.X said he's 100% running and hitting better than ever :walk: :jump:

What the heck are you talking about?

BTW, I think Burke is at the head of the class at this point although I think Fidler has a lot of upside at the next level (of course this is assuming he doesn't fulfill his commitment to UK).

Not seen many of the qb's listed play but knowing Ian Holbrook and his leadership and his ability, i have to bring up his name!

I have seen both Olinger and Holbrook play this year. IMO Olinger is the best qback I have seen play this year. A lot of posters is talking about Hazard lack of competition this year. Here is another perspective to consider, Olinger does not have the line and other supporting players that a Holbrook or some of these others may have. IMO if Olinger had the Oline that some of these larger schools enjoy, he would probably be a D1 prospect, he might be anyway.

According to the posted stats Mboro's Trevor Hoskins is in the top 15 in both Passing & Scoring on KHSAA in Class 2A. Cashen and Nelson aren't listed (Nelson in 3A).

I agree that Olinger is excellent. But when you look at Burke and the fact that Lex Cath was supposed to be down this season, and the top notch competition he has faced, his numbers are insane. If Burke keeps having this kind of season, he may very well be 2005's Mr Football. I thought he was a little behind Fidler, but this season, I think he has stepped up to another level.

I'm with you. :thumb: :thumb:

Burke seems to be the name mentioned often, when discussing prototypical QB's, that can compete at the next level.

He's having an outstanding year for Lex. Cath.

What about Woodward for Owensboro Catholic. He is having an impressive year, as are many.

JUSTIN BURKE IS AMAZING

Against stiff competition, he's still runnin for his life. The O-line, tho no longer can be considered young or inexperienced, is still undersized. Were Fidler playing for a St.X OR Trinity with a big O-line, he would be running away with the QB stats!
