He has been invited to Michigans camp this year but told me he is going to wait until after his junior season to do the camp thing if he does. I'd say that the freshman year numbers are how he got noticed. A lot of the big state papers were mentioning him last season during the weekly high school columns. Word probably travelled from there if i were guessing.

I have heard that Cashen is good but I don't understand something. If he is so highly thought of in the nation, then how do alot of people say that he may not be the best in the area. :confused:

It all depends on who is doing the talking and what they are looking for as far as who the best QB in the area is.

 

I don't believe that his stats had much to do with his national recognition. It has more to do with the fact that college scouts got to see him play last year(Tony Franklin was also very impressed with him) while scouting Corbin's opponents and saw that his arm strength was better than the Div.-1 QB's that he was playing against and his accuracy was comparable to these other two very good QB's. Now he was not yet in their league as far as defense recognition and all-around QB play, but that may come with more experience.

Clint is 5'11" and weighs around 205, so to be a Div.-1 prospect he may need to grow 2-3 inches and continue to improve his all-around game.

Fidler and Henderson Co. is 9-1 with the only loss at the hands of Cincy Moeller.

He never ran much but the coaches have cut him lose more this year. I don't know his career stats but this year he has 163 yards and 7 TDs.

Actually Clint is just a hair below 6'1" and about 215 now. He could stand being 6'3" or 6'4 for prototypical size but 6'1" isn't bad at all for D1 QB.

It would help Cashen if he could grow a couple of more inches, I noticed while looking at the link to the 2008 QB rankings that of the 6 listed, only two are under 6'4" with Clint being one of the two.

Holbrook from Ashland is a good QB but he isnt even in the Top 10 in KY.

 

Really? Im not in a position to question this call fan, but would like for you to name 10 who are better than Ian Holbrook. Ashland has several "star" quality players on this years team, but without Holbrook guiding the ship, I dont know how brightly his supporting cast would shine.

 

Ian, Ashlands all time passing leader, gets my biased vote.

I still say JORDAN FRITZ, you boys in central Ky, all you hear is Justin Burke and Will Fidler. You have media coverage for them because of the schools they are in. I heard a ref. say that he would put Fritz up against Burke any day of the week against any team. He (fritz) may get EKC or District but Im sure thats it. You need to talk to some Russell Coaches and fans and youll know who has the heart and soul. Who shouldnt be playing D, but is and has been playing with a hurt arm and still gets 350 complete passes in a game while scrambling for his life. Burke and the boys have the coverage to go with it. They dont play D. It takes an athelete to play both sides of the ball and walk away with stats!!!!!!

Burke's numbers are insane and if you are truly looking at the best QB not just the best athlete, 45 TD's against only a couple of interceptions against excellent competition says it all. I thought that Fidler would be the best this season, but I believe Burke has taken over the top QB spot in the state right now.

 

A lot of talk about Clint Cashen. I love this kid, but he is not D1 caliber and size is part of that. I don't think he is quite 6' tall and really needs to improve his footwork and speed. If the Draughn kid from Pulaski who was the coaches poll 3A Player of the Year his senior season, a state leader (top 10) in passing and rushing isn't offered a D1 scholarship for football due to only being about 6'1" tall, then I can't see Cashen getting those D1 offers. But make no mistake, he is the best sophomore QB in the state this year.
