January 10, 201016 yr Author One I just thought of is Foster Brooks. Can't believe I neglected to mention Foster.I loved him back in the seventies when he would appear on Carson. I can still remember how hard my pappaw would laugh at Brooks. I may be wrong, but I want to say that Brooks was a Kentucky native.

Many comedians have a persona or shtick that is what their humor is all about. Steve Martin always seemed to be coming up with something different and it was always good. Has anyone mentioned the Smothers Brothers? Not saying they are my favorite but they had their moments and deserve to be mentioned. Also, I have to mention Jim Carey. His stint on Living Color was what propelled him to fame.

First names that came to mind when thinking "TV funnymen". Redd Foxx as Fred Sanford, Aunt Esther and Grady were great supporting characters also. I always liked John Amos as the father figure on Good Times. Christopher Lloyd as Reverend Jim on Taxi. "What does a yellow light mean?" The Smothers Brothers were hilarious. Several characters on British comedies. It starts with Monty Python and Fawlty Towers, but Hyacinth and Richard from "Keeping Up Appearances" make my list also. If mcdaughter had been a boy, her name would have been John Keenen. We were HUGE fans of "In Living Color". Andy Griffith and Don Knotts. The Lucy cast. I always loved William Frawley as Fred Mertz. Steve Carrell and Rainn Wilson from The Office. Bob Newhart. Along with Larry, Darryl and Darryl. The Welcome Back Kotter Sweathogs. Bill Cosby. From I Spy to Cliff Huxtable. Dave Chappelle. Alan Alda, Al Bundy, Archie Bunker. Jack Klugman and Tony Randall. I always had a soft spot for Fred "Rerun" Berry. There are a bunch more.

Coneheads, Killer Bees, Wild and Crazy Guys, Weekend Update, Samurai_______. Johnny Carson. The undisputed king of late-night. Always willing to play second fiddle to the guests. Given the BGP demographic, surprised nobody has mentioned Johnny Fever/WKRP.
