January 12, 201016 yr Pretty much one of the biggest mistakes NBC made was thinking this would work at 10pm. I also heard that Conan now owns the Tonight Show naming rights.
January 12, 201016 yr I watched the start of Conan last night and he cracked some jokes about it taking some shots at NBC.
January 12, 201016 yr How is everyone saying Leno is not funny?!?!?! I like Conan much better, but give Leno some credit! When he was on the 11:30 slot, he always competed with David Letterman! If anything i would love to see things go back to the way they were (very unlikely however)...get rid of Jimmy Falon.
January 12, 201016 yr NBC must sit down with Leno and see what else it can do to straighten out this whole mess. The current people are NBC are not the ones who created this mess either. But I see where Conan refuses to start the Tonight Show at 12:05 AM. To me it's no big deal, but I also see where NBC has to see the consequences here. Who would win out between these two if NBC decides to stay with their latest decision? Leno on NBC or Conan on Fox? Just part of what Conan had to say today: “For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news. I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn’t the Tonight Show…. “There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work. “Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it’s always been that way. Yours, Conan”
January 12, 201016 yr I read a report the other day that said the move of Leno to 10:00 cost the network about $200M.
January 12, 201016 yr Fallon is so not funny. Conan was really making some good jokes last night about NBC. Said something about NBC losing $200 for the Olympics, and then added, "I don't know about you, but I find that hilarious." NBC is saying that they gave Conan the "Tonight Show" not the 11:35 start time. Consequently, FOX wants Conan and would put him on at 11 which I think is another awful idea, unless they think the 10-11 Fox news can lead straight into him. But he is also competing with the news shows of ABC, CBS, and NBC at 11. What is the point of putting Jay on for thirty minutes, Conan for an hour, and then Fallon for another hour? Fallon would be fighting the likes of Girls Gone Wild infomercials and Showtime Rotisserie.

He is, however, extremely annoying, and I give him full credit for that.
January 12, 201016 yr Conan was in rare form last night, and I loved it. And I hope he gets to crush NBC wherever he goes. And I hope that He of the Big Chin continues to be a hack wherever he goes, ratings be darned.

And I hope that He of the Big Chin continues to be a hack wherever he goes, ratings be darned. Conan was obviously angry and you could tell because of the passion in his jokes about NBC. His cracks on NBC were the best stuff he had all night. I hope Conan sticks it to NBC and makes the move to another network.
January 12, 201016 yr I hope Conan sticks it to NBC and makes the move to another network. I also read where the ratings for Conan on the Tonight Show dropped and Letterman has taken a big lead in the ratings. They also said that NBC may be wanting Conan to leave now, and save them close to 30 million a year and they stick with Leno back at 11:30 on the Tonight Show, thinking Leno would build back up the ratings.

They also said that NBC may be wanting Conan to leave now, and save them close to 30 million a year and they stick with Leno back at 11:30 on the Tonight Show, thinking Leno would build back up the ratings. From the way I see it, Leno's show was the problem. Leno at 10 did not work. No one was watching it and that hurt the local news stations because there was no lead-in from Leno to the news. Conan was also trying to build fans. Yes, he had a devoted group that has watched him for years, but how long did Leno have to build a fan base? Also, with fewer viewers watching the 11 o'clock news, there were fewer people on the lead-in into the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. So in theory, you put an actual good show on NBC at 10, that creates good lead-in to the news, and good lead-in into the Tonight Show.
January 12, 201016 yr NBC should just can Leno, and show old Carson shows at the 11:30 slot, and then Conan at 12:30. I could go for that. And it would probably win the ratings for that time slot. Carson was the best.
January 13, 201016 yr How about some better news: Jay Leno goes away altogether, because he sucks. :thumb: I love Conan!
