January 20, 201016 yr I was down another five pounds today. When I told the doctor I wasn't even really trying at this point, he started getting that "Hmm..." look on his face. Said we'll just keep an eye on it, and if it keeps up we'll run tests. I said forget that, if it keeps up, I'm going to get rich selling diet books! . Edited January 22, 201016 yr by Birdsfan
January 22, 201016 yr I started at 288 lbs first of Nov. I'm down 55 lbs to 233 lbs. I'm doing the Mayo Clinic diet, not associated with the Mayo Clinic, similar to adkins diet. The big draw back for me is my muscular dystrophy limits me greatly, just very thankful for what I can do. Drinking water is the big thing. I have found out the more water I drink the more I lose. Your on the diet for 12 days and two days off to eat what you want, then repeat. You can find it on the internet, Mayo Clinic Heart Diet. If you do it, make sure you start on Monday, so your free days will be on the weekend. The exception I make is I don't eat much red meat, I eat 90% baked or grilled chicken and a steak once or twice a week. I did it about 15 years ago and went from 234 to 184. I was still working then. it works though. :dancingpa
January 22, 201016 yr In Feb. 2008 I weighed 300 lbs and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I now weigh about 170 lbs. and my blood sugar level is well below Diabetic limits with no medication. I gained about 5 lbs. over the Christmas Holiday (I LOVE homemade cookies) but have taken most of that back off. I went from a 50" waist to a 33" and I walk at least 5 miles every day. That is amazing.. I can't even drop 20lbs.
January 23, 201016 yr Well I have been dropping weight since about October of last year. Started off as stress weight loss but has developed into a mission. I started out at 305(heaviest, but about 290 when the real work began) and just hit the scales today at the Y. 237! I'm getting there but the ultimate goal is 190. Crazy part is no real diet. I still eat all the same things I used to but smaller portions. Only water or an occasional diet soft drink and then the running and working out at the Y. The work outs have been somewhat counter productive to weight loss, but I'm looking much better.
January 27, 201016 yr Author Now that I am dating again I am much more motivated to get under 200 pounds.
January 27, 201016 yr My wife and I got married about 3 years ago. before we were married I weighed around 190, I am 5"11. After being married for a while and eating chicken and dumplins and coblers every night I noticed at football practice one day that my shirt didn't fit so well. When I got on the scales I was at 210. Started my own diet next day and have been on it every since. I lost about 2lb per week by eating right and running about 2 miles 4 times a week. I got down to 180 but looked to skinny, I am now at around 190 and have stayed there for sometime. I eat 3 meals a day with snacks in between. The seceret to success is not trying to lose it all at one time. I feel quilty now if I eat bad or don't workout when I am scheduled to do so.
