How so? You really don't think Carson would do good there with more talent around him on offense, and more open offense? Do you honestly think Romo would do much better than what Carson has to deal with in the Bengals offense right now. I post in another thread, the numbers of other elite QB's that have had to play the same style offense that Carson has to play this year, and his numbers are right there with those guys. A system a team uses has all to do with if a QB is going to put up great numbers or not.

To answer the bolded, yes I do. That does not mean I believe Romo is a world beating top flight QB that would have the Bengals undefeated, but Palmer has proved nothing coming off his injuries to make me believe he is anything but a shell of his former self. Maybe it is just rust and he will turn it around from here forward, but at this time I would say Carson is a lot more of a risk than Romo. Or, maybe Carson has held back because of the Bengals ability to run the ball and actually play defense. But from a pure eye test, I am not sure how you can, with confidence, take Palmer.

And don't forget the God awful offensive line he had.

I was thinking the same. They couldn't block Fort Thomas Highlands.

I heard Tebow on the radio the other day and he said he wants a shot to play QB in the NFL. However, he also said that if it doesn't work out he would be willing to move anywhere in order to help his team win.

I think WR and Safety are our main needs for next year.

How many NCs did Couch and Lorenzen win combined? How can you be so sure he can't run an NFL offense, he had the one of the highest passer efficencies in the nation.

Tebow does not have the arm, holds the ball too long and if he tries to tuck it and run against NFL linebackers, his stay will be short. If the Bengals take a QB he won't have a shot at the field for a while. Still Carson's gig for the next 5 years unless he completely tanks.

I agree. They still need to get something figured out at TE also.

We need to get that wide receiver that studies under Chad early like Reggie Wayne did with Marvin Harrison. When Chad leaves then they take over the throne. I hate to say it but I think they were counting on Chris Henry to take over in that area sooner or later.

If we are going to talk about Palmer after a bad game. I think we should also talk about him in a good game. He showed in this game, when they do open it up and come out passing like they use to. That he does get in a rhythm, and looks like he use to when we were pass first.

He played very well yesterday. I am a huge Carson supporter, but he needs to be more consistent. Part of the problem has been receivers getting open, but 9 has thrown his fair share of bad balls this year.

I think they've got more pressing needs than to waste a pick on a project of a quarterback. Palmer isn't an elite quarterback but he's good enough and just getting ready to turn 30. I think they can wait a year or two before looking for his successor.

If they wanna find an Aaron Rodgers in the 5th or so round and let him ride the pine for 3-4 years and learn sure.

I think every team needs to make sure they have quality depth at the QB position. I don't see a problem with Cincinnati taking a guy in next year's draft that they can work with and give themselves some depth at that position.

I'm not worried about Carson Palmer in the least. But, you can never have enough quality depth, especially at QB.

First of all, the Bengals don't pass as much as in the past, so he's not going to get in rhythm as easy or as often as in the past. Second, the receiving talent across the board is the worst he's played with. TJ is gone, replaced by Coles who drops at least every other ball thrown his way. Benson isn't a good receiver out of the backfield. The FB isn't a good option. The TE's are abysmal. They lost Chris Henry who whether he caught a lot of balls or not, stretched defenses and opened the field up. Chad is still a big time WR and Caldwell is a solid guy. That's pretty much it. And, the fact that the backs and TE's can't even be decent puts a lot of pressure on the wideouts, IMO.

The Bengals simply don't have the personnel to be a good passing team. Palmer is doing well with what's there.

I think that will come with this, a full healthy season under has belt, and a healthy off season and preseason in 2010. They need another big gun at WR. They fill that, and I think CP has a great season next year.

A reasonable option at TE would help a ton too.

I agree, but they just can't seem to hit on a TE as hard as they try. Foschi has shown some signs of improvement though.
