December 16, 200916 yr Disagree wholeheartedly on this. I have tons of maps and use them all the time. Plus, unlike GPS devices, reading a map also helps you to better get to know the area you are visiting. A lot of photographers still use film, as the digital image still hasn't quite caught up to film as far as richness and detail of the image. I don't have a Garmin device, and I when I go on trips I load up on those big paper maps. I'm sure the Garmin's are very helpful but you can't get the overall feel of the entire area like you can on those maps.
