Things that have gone obsolete in the last decade

Featured Replies

I was listening to a radio show down here in Memphis and this was the topic of discussion. What are things that have gone completely obsolete now in the last decade?

A few things they mentioned...

1) Folded maps - everyone has GPS in their car, phone, or they have a Garmin.

2) Lickable stamps - They are all stickers now.

What else?

VHS tapes and VCRs.

Corded house phones.

Analogue TV sets, portable compact disk players, 401k’s and common sense.

Zima, Hoola Hoops, Pac Man video games, Dan Fogleburgh albums

Comic section in newspapers.

HD DVD players and DVDs...thanks to BluRay. Oh, and good television. It's all been replaced by reality TV blockbusters like "The Real Housewives of (insert city here)" and "Keeping Up With The (insert random celebrities who haven't actually done anything to deserve being a celebrity)."

Cameras that take film... It's all basically memory cards now.

Dan Fogleberg albums

The Rolodex: replaced by digital computer- or phone-based address books.

Disagree wholeheartedly on this. I have tons of maps and use them all the time. Plus, unlike GPS devices, reading a map also helps you to better get to know the area you are visiting.

A lot of photographers still use film, as the digital image still hasn't quite caught up to film as far as richness and detail of the image.

Agree here. Many professional photographers still use film, but for the casual user, they're mostly all digital now.
