Big Ten Expansion Talks

Or the way ND has been going it would make the Big 10 that much more mediocre.

And Mizzou wouldn't?

At least ND has a basketball program.

Why has Cincinnati not been mentioned?

They make as much sense as any of the others, in my opinion.

Cincinnati's move to the Big East wasn't done so they could just immediately move away. I think Cincinnati is VERY HAPPY in their current situation.

Syracuse!

With conference championship game played at the Carrier Dome one year then Detroit's Ford Field the next.

First, I think the conference championship would likely be played in Indy. It's probably the closest thing to being central to the conference.

However, the main reason why I don't think Syracuse would be a likely candidate is Jim Boeheim. No way he gives up a "homecourt advantage" in playing their current conference tourney at Madison Square Garden, in order to travel 600-700 miles away in Indy.

If I had to choose a team from the Big East...I'd say Pitt would be the most logical. Then you generate an in-state rivalry with Penn State that could help fuel the conference in that state.

^I agree Pitt would be the perfect choice if they would come. I don't think OSU would stand idle while UC was asked to join, or Michigan to WVU. JMO.

I agree. Can you imagine the uproar in Ann Arbor if WVU came in and beat michigan the first time around?!?!?!?

I think Ohio State would be more likely to favor Louisville than UC. Rutgers would be even less of a threat to the Buckeye base. But, Louisville would also bring a historic basketball program to the table that would be harder for the other two to beat right now.

It's not a knock on any certain school but academics will play a part in the decision on who joins.

Well there is a thing called the CIC which is the Big 10's research consortium and they pay very well. ND faculty is 92% in favor. So maybe ND will actually think about it. I don't think they will but who knows. I like ND and their ability to schedule who they want, but recently Nevada and San Diego State aren't exactly the ND/Miami or "Catholics vs Convicts" that people really got excited about.

Brian Kelly was saying he wants to make Texas a regular opponent which would be great.

If they go with television markets, then Rutgers is the target.

Could be Pitt...

Could be Mizzou...

Heard one today....just wild speculation.

Mizzou to Big Ten, Arkansas to Big 12, Clemson to SEC, South Florida to ACC, Central Florida to Big East, and MTSU to CUSA.

Wacky and crazy, but who knows.

Ark to Big 12 and Clemson to SEC would make a lot of sense. Rutgers/Pitt to Big 10 make sense.

I've always heard Clemson is a SEC school in the ACC conference.

I believe that if this happens hat Rutgers or Pitt would be logical cantidates and maybe even Cincinnati or Central Michigan or another MAC team should they want to move to a BCS conference. :idunno:. Those are just a guess on my part and would set up even more natural rivalries. No matter who it will be imo it will help if nothing else in that it would extend the season. Big Ten teams have a long layoff untill the bowl games now and imo it hurts them on hat long of a gap befre a bowl, especially if it is a BCS bowl.

Why then would Penn State be in favor of Pitt joining?

A TON of rumors swirling right now that Pitt has been selected to join the Big 11. Mostly just message board stuff on a lot of different sites, but it's getting spread around hot and heavy this weekend...
