Anderson couldn't have played. I know they said he could run and dunk, but he had no lateral movement. The possibility of him playing was a smokescreen.

 

But yes, his injury may very well have cost UK a national title. Of course, if Pitino hadn't redshirted Jeff Sheppard ...

With many of the rest, we have a pretty good idea of what they would have been...

 

For example, what if Noah and company had stayed another year. Well, they'd have likely 3-peated. All the "what if (insert players here) had stayed another year" arguments have the same answer, IMO.

 

But, with UK's what if, nobody knows. All we know is that they'd have been loaded with one of the most talented teams UK had ever assembled...

 

Don't forget LeRon Ellis...I think he played then as well, and he was a solid big man. He certainly would have been a nice complement to Kemp.

No but Cincinnati fans are great with excuses, so I'm sure they would've thought of something.

That was Jonathan Stewart. Johnny Pittman I believe was a one time UK recruit that ended up playing for Oklahoma State.

What if the "King" Kelly Coleman had actually been cheered in his state tourney appearance in Memorial instead of booed and became a Wildcat? I think as a basketball fan in this state this is the biggest what if or what would have happened of them all. I've talked to many who state he was better than Oscar and Jerry West!

Not according to the results of the Kentucky-Indiana All Star games that year. The Big O scored around 35 points for Indiana in one of the games and held the King to about 5 points in an Indiana victory. In his book about the subject of their matchups, Oscar said he wanted to prove he was a better player than Kelly and he thought he accomplished that in the all star games that year.

^ I recently got the King Kelly Coleman book. Yet to read it but interested in it even more now.

What if nobody left early from Duke's 1999 Runner UP season? The next year you would've had William Avery, Corey Maggette, Shane Battier, Elton Brand, Jason Williams, Carlos Boozer, and Mike Dunleavy......that's a pretty good roster, IMO...

 

This along with the 2001 team as well with Jay Will, Boozer and Dunleavy staing for their senior season.
