When the majority of them got the chance to actually play---some didn't -- they lost

Problem is -- they were the ones talking the most smack -- Congrat's to the X Seniors who beat the best coach in high school football!

So be it.....obviously we responded to a football related post...with a football post that has the most important football number.......don't get all high and mighty on me, claiming some form of moral superiority...I don't need to be painted into a corner.....I am a good man, that loves these young men will all of my heart....

Then tell these seniors that it is okay, that the Bowling Green event is a part of life and growing up and sometimes they are going to fail. Sometimes it isn't about winning. There's a thread about Trinity being the team of the decade-no doubt- but so was Florida and the last impression of Florida is Tim Teboe bawling his eyes out. I hope that these seniors become better people than those with rings.

What is the series record now? Over all the Years..........HAHA

 

Papalee...how many titles have you won in 100 years? Oh, thats right. Trinity has more in 50 than you do in 100. Congrats big guy!

Maybe if THS takes the regular season more signiificantly the seniors who got to play then - -not in the title game would have more to talk about - -remember-- it's all about winning, isn't it?

Beanie, I had a senior on the team that started the regular season game. He sacrificed for the love of the team and took a position move his senior year to help the team. He played his heart out but by mid-season began to breakdown to injuries and wasn't making plays. Did he complain? Never! He continued to fight in practice and support his fellow teammates. In the end, our coaching staff put the kids in the positions they thought would help this team win the game even if that meant playing some kids both ways cutting my son out of significant playing time. As a dad, was I happy to see my sons playing time fade away as we approached the state game, absolutely not. But my son understands the concept of team and has no regrets. He leaves knowing that they won 3 state titles while he was in High School. He started special teams as a Sophomore and Junior and played alot of downs and has 2 rings to show for it and alot of great memories. For that, I will always be thankful for this past four years. Trinity FOREVER!

It wasn't that many years ago that Coach Glaser started a soph. who transferred to X from T in August in the Sept. game. Were the seniors he beat out happy? Probably not. They're competitive kids. But they also want what's best for the team at BOTH schools. These coaches put the players on the field who they think give them the best chance to win. It's pretty simple. Don't make it into what it's not.

Funny, I only care about the kids and what they do after high school. Will they be life champions and be good fathers and husbands? I hope and pray that their life is not defined and determined by what happens on a cold night in December 5, 10, 20 years ago but rather by the people that touch their lives-some of them being Coach Glaser and Coach Beatty. There are many great people on both sides of this rivalry but bringing up 1968 as means of superiority seems a bit shallow.

Here's another perspective...

 

My son played for Coach Beatty until he couldn't play any longer. Was there frustration that he didn't start? Sure there was. Especially his Sophomore year when he wanted to start on JV. And then, he got hurt. Then his Junior year, he came back to the team, working harder than ever to earn a starting spot. But it wasn't to be, and he had to quit for medical reasons. Was my son frustrated? Absolutely. Coach Beatty isn't warm and fuzzy and he doesn't pretend to be. But to say he doesn't care about the kids is an absolute false statement. Maybe there are players out there who don't hold fond memories of him. But for what has transpired with Coach Beatty AFTER my son had to quit playing football, my son is now grateful.

 

We talked about this not long ago. My son talked about how he thought Coach Beatty cared only about winning and nothing about the players when he played. But he realizes now that all the toughness that Coach Beatty instilled in him. And he's had the opportunity to talk with Coach Beatty in the years since he's left Trinity and he holds Coach Beatty in great respect for the things they've shared in those conversations. But it is a two way street, and the player has to be willing to understand that a coach is like a boss. That their job is to push you to be your best, and that ultimately no matter whether you start or you don't, giving your 110% best 100% of the time makes the whole team better.

Simon Kenton? Are you joking? Don't even join the discussion until you've won something or you'll get run out of this thread faster than you got run out of the stadium last year in the finals. Really? Simon Kenton making a claim of any kind even remotely suggesting that it is better than Trinity? Wow!

 

Well SK did manage to put up 34 on X and I believe that Trinity only put up a low 10?
