I was one of the fortunate thousand or so fans who made their way onto the field last night following the St. X. win. People get on here and take an instant in a game they are spectators at and try and interpret someone's body language or comment to prove a point.

There were hundreds of fans around the St. X. team listening as Coach Glaser addressed his team as Champions. He said that when they look in the mirror when they get home they will see themselves as 2009 State Champions. What concerns him the more is that in the next 5, 10 or 20 years he wants them to see a "Life Champion" whenever they look in a mirror. He said that if anyone of his players ever needed anything down the road he and his assistant coaches would always be there for them.

 

That is the essence of St. X. football and Coach Glaser. The dads who have sons that played for Coach Glaser know this about him. He has a true love and passion for all his players today and those he has coached in his 28 years. Great dominating win Tigers!

Couldn't have stated it better! :thumb: These facts are why the majority of Coach Glaser's former players carry the same respect, love and passion for him throughout the rest of their lives. As a former St. X Dad, my respect and appreciation for Coach G was built by just as many off-field interactions as on the gridiron. IMO-His critics don't have a clue about the MAN and it has reached the point that X victories wouldn't be near as sweet without the patented (1) whines and spins about something Coach has said or done and (2) the token response (and my personal favorite ) that "it's why we go back to work tomorrow with alot of positions open and looking to be filled by young men who truly want to win" which I find insulting for every player that puts in the countless hours of work and sacrifice it takes to play the game.

:thumb: No HS aged young man should have to go thru the pressure and nonsense that he has been subject to. Also, keep your heads up Rock Seniors-I've stated it many times before that there is no shame in losing to the Tigers and vice versa.

Ditto Xtiger but I will save my comments about Coach G for another thread. The game itself played out as I thought, Trinitys inability to run the ball after the first drive, turnovers, and special teams. I was impressed again by Brad Kragthorpes ability to avoid the sack and get out of pressure. Once again, I was impressed with Trinitys ability to get to the finals and Coach Beattys ability to will the Rocks back into position for number 20.

 

Trinity runnning game:When you line up in 4th and 1 in shotgun, then you are conceding that you know you can't run for the first down so it became a 7 on 7. Trinity is credited with 27 runs but some of those are scrambles for 80 yards. The inability of the "best" athlete on the field to do the simple task of blocking allowed St Xs CB to come up and stop the run and the screens. That's why he is a freshmen. Make 1 good play, mess up on the next 3. He will be good if he continues to play FB.

 

Turnovers Trinity 3, St X 0 The pick at 14-10 I think was the biggest as it was in St X territory with a chance to take the lead.

 

Special Teams The KO returns back to midfield and the THS short punts put St X in short field situations in the second half. Yes the fake FG is icing but thats the second TD on a FG in a state game in 3 years so until Trinity decides to stop it, I am sure St X will run it again and keep it in the game plan.

 

By the way, great venue. Keep it there not just because X won but think of Louisville being in the same position as Univ of Cincinnati yesterday and playing a Big East deciding game at Papa Johns. Can U of L say they won't ever host a meaningful game on that Saturday? I hope not.

So well said. Our son would do anything for Coach Glaser. He cares so much for his boys for life. He has been there for many of them. Such a good man, and a very good coach!

Buehner was the MVP IMO. CONGRATS to the Tigers - well deserved - the most confident I have ever seen the Tigers - as far as the tip of the hat - Glaser can't help himself - classless move

I wish there were more Buehners on the way. That name has become almost as synonymous with State Champion to Tiger fans as the Brohm name has with the Rocks. I guess we will have to wait for Jon to get married and start having sons to carry on the tradition.

Did any one see how St. X's Coach walked to the hash line and tipped his hat to the Trinity sideline after the fake field goal attempt??? Did anyone else think that that was a little low class??

 

Don't blame other teams for scoring against you. It's your team's responsibility to prevent the score. :sssh:

Finally home from BG. Stayed around last night too. I'd been there since Friday afternoon so it's good to be home.

side note......I was fortunate to talk to Coach Kragthorpe last night, for about 2 hours....we just stood there and chatted for most of the entire game....it was great to see him in better spirits, and the amount of people that came up to him to wish him well, was very cool.....of course it's gut wrenching to watch a man, watching his son, battle and not doing well....all the while keeping his composure. That said, he extended an invite to go visit in Tulsa next year, and we just might!!!!!

Accurate and objective assesment. We knew what we had to do to have even have a chance against the Tigers - and did not get it done.

 

Cannot have turnovers and crucial penalties against a team the caliber of X. WE did - and it killed us.
