Only thing I will say about last year's game is that Brandon Roller did not play. You will get a chance to see one of if not the best LB'ers in the state this weekend. He has a nose for the ball like no other and awesome instincts. It doesnt hurt that he goes over 6' and around 215 either.

True about Brandon, actually very true, but it's going to take a whole lot more than Brandon to stop JC's very, very good running game. JC's running backs run hard and are fast. Their O line is very good also. When they get into their stance, all the weight is forward and they fired out really hard at the point of attack. Back side linemen get down field quickly on to the defensive secondary. We are going to have to have great pursuit from the back side, while protecting against the reverse and qb keeper. Every one on D is going to have to really wrap when they tackle this week. You won't arm tackle these guys. You won't just hit them and knock them down like a couple of our players have done the last couple weeks. JC's runners will take those hits and just keep on going. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the toughest running game that we will have faced this year; yes, better than X's running game.

The bolded part is very, very true. Earlier in the year when I saw JC play, I wasn't that impressed. They have really improved. Getting Dillon back has improved their offense dramatically. And the Hall kid has a ton of speed. He's fast, real fast. Forget about him for a second, and he'll take a qb keeper to the end zone.

 

Watch out for him moving out to wide receiver. They beat Ashland using a pass play to him.

Dale typically makes them kick again from 5 yds further back. If they could pop it up & force HHS to fair catch, that would probably be a better strategy. Another alternative is to onside kick every time if you are concerned about a runback.

To add to the mix,when HHS is on offense,go to the spread ,run the recievers deep every play and wear down JC's two way starters. What does that imply when their fans are talking about kicking the ball out of bounds,and not risking a long runback? It doesn't sound like they have much faith in their coverage team,does it? Does anyone know if the two way starters also play on special teams? Don't get me wrong,I'm not taking anything away from JC,I'm sure they have a great team,but they have not faced a D like Highlands this year.Believe me,I'm not a coach! (JMO)

How many years have you seen them play? Last year was the FIRST AND ONLY time they have played.

 

Last year, JC scored 3 TD,s (1 in 2nd qtr, 1 in 3rd qtr, 1 in 4th qtr) in the game...They must have been stopped a time or two. I guess you missed that year.

Highlands, like all Highland's teams has a lot of speed, year in year out they are they play like a track meet. Out quick before you know it down three TD's. JC use it's running game to keep the there the Birds 'O' off the field and play some good sound 'D' with the some turn overs JC may have a chance in this one.
