I think HHS wins the great % if they play it 10x -- but they only play it once. Depth, defense & speed could be a problem for JC. Here is a scenario under which JC could win in a hostile environment:

 

JC runs the ball effectively which runs clock and limits # of possessions to ~4 for each team, each half.

 

HHS turns the ball over via interceptions, fumbles or penalties that stall drives or mixed FGs.

JC makes a big special team play or 2.

 

Game is close to the last few possessions and anything can happen.

 

WOW!!! I think any team would win if the other team is having these multiple turnovers you have eluded to. This really makes no sense. Or is that what it's supposed to do? :confused:

Johnson Central has done a great job turning their season around but it comes to an end this week. I think Coach Matney has done an excellent job getting the kids to buy into the seperate parts of the season......first part gets you ready for Districts and then Districts get you seeded and prepared for the Playoffs.

Fot the first time and most likely the last time in my life, I will be cheering for the Birds.

I think the Birds will be too much for JC though - unless they completely go to pieces which I just can't see happening. Their focus week-to-week this season has been impressive to say the least.

No but it might as well have been. The most boring game I could ever have watched. Watched Belfry v. JC. Both teams I could have called what was coming. Only watched first half. One pass and a nice one at that. Everything is handoff to full back, hand off to running back, keeper. Heck the QB hands of and almost immediately while play is still going on is walking over to the sidelines to get the next play. They do a nice job on the run though. Of course that seems like that's all they do so they should be really good at it. QB is fast when he takes off with the ball. Roller and Johnston will be busy Friday.

Highlands has had a problem w/ fumbles all year. Additionally, in the four games that I have watched since Bardo went down, their intermediate passing game has not been very effective. That being said, their deep game has been great, and Towles doesn't force anything, which is really impressive for a Sophomore. If they force Highlands to rely on the intermediate passing game, I think that they will keep it closer than many expect. However, they would have to stop the running game and the deep passing game. It's pick your poison.

You can throw on them.

LB's must do there jobs,tackle the QB on every play.

JC plays into Highlands strength, team speed.

I do not know how durable the QB is, plays both ways and returns kicks.

I believe this is second week he got hurt, got his bell rung against us.

As long as he layed on the field, most likely should not have returned.

If you get a 2 score lead, game is yours to loss.

... and special teams play. (Kick-off return / Bardo, Collinsworth, Fennel, Punt return / Gold) I just don't see JC shutting down all cogs in the 'Birds scoring machine.

 

... and the 'Birds defense, they just get better each week. Each game, someone or somebody, steps up to the plate and leaves a signature hit! There were several such signatures left in last week's Dixie game by our dbs.

The Birds were lucky to get out of there last year with a win. JC has a great program. They also have a great o-line and some hard nose running backs' date=' #1 the taillback is a state champion wrestler. Their game plan will be to control the ball and to keep the ball away from the Birds offense. [b']Then when they lull you to sleep with that power offense, here comes the pass[/b]. The Birds offense will really have to mix it up, and then everyone throughout the state is going to see how disciplined and physical the ''Nasty's'' and the rest of the Mean Birds really are. HHS-42 JC-13 Good luck both teams.

 

 

Let's hope so! I seem to recall maybe 3 passes in the game last year. Two were completed and one was incomplete. The only problem with the two completions were that they went to Bardo.

 

Not sure if their passing game has improved any since last year, but with HHS' defensive backfield in '09, I'm not too worried that JC is going to beat us with a passing attack.

In the game last year at JC, I seem to remember that they were so pre-occupied with the screen pass that they didn't really put a real rush on Tony, and the d-line sort of stayed at the line of scrimmage without fighting to get the QB. It was insane how much time he had to pass on some of the long plays, especially the one to Gold in the second half.
