Highlands maybe able to stop the run, but they have not stopped JC's running game any year I have seen them play. You better bring your A game Highlands or you may be packing the pads for Thanksgiving this year, don't sleep on this team.

 

Highlands has brought their "A Game" on all twelve occasions this year. It appears it's JC who left theirs at the house four times this year.

They faced a pretty good Boyle County D this year.

 

Ok, I don't know anything about Boyle Co. this year. Did BC. have an offense to go with their D ? I can assume from your post that JC beat BC this year? What was the score of that game? They lost 49-7 to Boyle County, which is currently undefeated.

Ok Ok...you have seen them on tape. It may not be a cakewalk but I think the Birds will accept the challenge and take care of business on offense.

There were a lot of turnovers (specifically, fumbles) that influenced the first four games of the Golden Eagles' season, period. The fumble numbers are way, way down since then (and as a direct result, the scoring and the wins are way, way up).

Having been at practice both Monday and Tuesday this week, I like what I've seen from the Birds. As always, the weekly new wrinkles in the gameplan are to counteract the Birds opponents strengths and weaknesses.

So Highlands need to stop the running game of JC? Put nine in the box and make them beat you with the pass, (Whats so hard about that?) To add to the mix,when HHS is on offense,go to the spread ,run the recievers deep every play and wear down JC's two way starters. What does that imply when their fans are talking about kicking the ball out of bounds,and not risking a long runback? It doesn't sound like they have much faith in their coverage team,does it? Does anyone know if the two way starters also play on special teams? Don't get me wrong,I'm not taking anything away from JC,I'm sure they have a great team,but they have not faced a D like Highlands this year.Believe me,I'm not a coach! (JMO)

The dive option, midline option, and belly option blocking schemes all rely on out numbering the defense. If you put 9 in the box then you are going to get no back side pursuit and I believe that it would just hurt the blue bird d. In my opinion, the best way to stop a good running game is to play your normal D, wrap up the runners and play your assignments. You bend, but you don't break.

I would guess that is what we will see on Friday. I would also add that all 11 will fly to the ball, and I expect to see a lot of blue jerseys in on or around every tackle.

I'm baffled by some of the blowout predictions. I highly doubt that the team Highlands faces on Friday is the same team that got thumped by Boyle County early in the season. I believe JC has won 8 straight... they're on a roll and they will not be an "easy out" by any means.

I like to read the local news features about the upcoming games. Tried to read the Paintsville Herald, but they make you subscribe to the paper to view the stories. :idunno:
