I think it is likely that JC is the best team HHS has seen this year. They are not the same team they were early in they year (by their record)....having said that, didn't they give up 40 to Scott ? I don't know how you can be -40 to Scott better. Birds win this in a brawl.

I usually do not do this, but I sat down to evaluate the schedule of Johnson Central. Two of the losses were to Boyle County and Bell County by significant margins early in the season, but both of these teams are still alive in the playoffs. Another loss occurred to Sheldon Clark who is also still alive in the playoffs. No shame in losing to any of these teams, but how would they do against the Birds this year? The wins I must say are not real impressive except for maybe the Belfry game, but they obviously were not as strong this year as opposed to previous ones. And then to give up 40+ to Scott and 32+ to CovCath, I really do not see this as being that close of a contest. I know that this same game occurred last year, but I just have to believe that JC is not as good as last year and HHS is better than last year. Factor in the long drive to Fort Thomas and I look for the Birds to prevail 49-12.

 

You stole my post....LOL!!!! I would expect JC will fight hard but the drive alone and playing at DCM is worth a TD before the game starts. Highlands has just way too many fresh bodies they throw in.... HHS 42-20

People keep referencing JC giving up 40+ to Scott. From what I understand that was mostly in the 2nd half and against JC's 2nd team. I wouldn't put to much stock in that score. JC will come to play.

I'll reserve any validation on the bolded part until about 10:00 to 10:30 this evening. But, I find it hard to agree with this right now. JC is one dimensional by all accounts (run, then pass when absolutely, positively necessary), and their defense has been reported by numerous sources to be suspect.

 

Contrast that with Ryle, which is at least 'pretty good' on both sides of the ball, and of course St. Xavier, which is, well, St. Xavier.

 

Going back to the win over St. Xavier, one element of that game was the excellent game plan and preparation. That can't be overlooked, and I think it is another dimension that will make this game interesting to watch if you are a Highlands fan. Of course the game is played on the field, but the film study and opponent-specific game plans put players in a position to make plays when they have to.

 

As to the continuing references to giving up 40 to Scott, I believe at least some of that was with JC's JV on the field to get experience, and if it is the case, it makes the 40 less of a relevant factor when comparing the two.

OH NO, he's the best. He's the only one that actually knows what is going on up there. When the PA's is a mess, he's the only one that knows how to fix it. He knows where everything is and he gets things done. And he does it being paid whatever pocket change they have left at the end of the night which is hardly enough to get a chili dog after the game. He is there all the time. He is in school all day and may not get home after the games til 2 a.m. Great kid. Tell ya what, if I had a busness, I would be looking at this kid to employ for the future. He hustles, does what is ask of him and is just a great kid.

It's the few that act like they run the place and don't have a clue what they are doing. You know the ones, they sit around and really do nothing but dress the part.

Agreed with 100%. That young man is worth a 1000 times what they pay him. The day before and the night of the X game, he was working every minute he wasn't in class. He stayed up there until 2 O'Clock Saturday morning supervising/helping CBS break down their cameras and equipment. The fellow that is "responsible" for facility management paid the kid $20 for his efforts. What a blooming joke. The kid should be in charge and the adult should work for him, and the fact that I'm actually publicly criticizing something Highlands should speak volumes.
