Sadly though...it's true.

Well, it wasn't that long ago when the Cincy St. X fans were laughing about how Highlands' defense had struggled to keep Class 1A Beechwood's offense off the field and off the scoreboard (even though BW has been down this year), and that Highlands' offense was inconsistent and underachieving. Highlands fans responded by saying that perhaps Highlands was holding some things back in the early-season games, so as not to tip their hand against St. X. What happened? HHS surprised St. X and won the game.

 

Now HHS fans seem to be laughing at how many points JC surrendered against teams like Scott, and at how one-dimensional JC's offense has been. Well, perhaps JC has been holding some things back, in preparation for this matchup... because let's face it, everybody knew that JC and HHS were going to run into each other in the playoffs this year.

 

JC has proven they can hang with the 'Birds, given how close the game was last year. Heck, one of the most knowledgeable HHS fans on BGP said at the end of last year that JC was the toughest KY team HHS faced all year long.

 

So, why is it so incredible to believe that JC is actually very, very good and will give HHS all they can handle Friday night???

 

You also had reservations about what Highlands would do against Dixie's passing game.

How big of an issue is parking? Ive never been to a ballgame at Highlands but have been by the stadium. The parking lot in front of the school I assume fills up fairly quickly.

 

When you come to the game watch out for foul balls.If you would happen to catch it, just throw it back to the field of play and stay away from that mean 7th grader. (Right Birdsfan? ) :lol::lol::lol:

I'm baffled by some of the blowout predictions. I highly doubt that the team Highlands faces on Friday is the same team that got thumped by Boyle County early in the season. I believe JC has won 8 straight... they're on a roll and they will not be an "easy out" by any means.

 

I have to agree.Two keys to this game is a)can the Birds D stop the big running backs of JC and B) can JC stop the high powered O of the Birds? One thing that nobody has mentioned,last game the Birds had many holding penaltys that brought back some big plays against them.That just can't happen this week. One last comment, this sounds like a hard hitting affair, I hope both teams bring plenty of smelling salts!! Go Birds!!!!

Two of the losses were to Boyle County and Bell County by significant margins early in the season, but both of these teams are still alive in the playoffs. Another loss occurred to Sheldon Clark who is also still alive in the playoffs. No shame in losing to any of these teams, but how would they do against the Birds this year? The wins I must say are not real impressive except for maybe the Belfry game, but they obviously were not as strong this year as opposed to previous ones. And then to give up 40+ to Scott and 32+ to CovCath, I really do not see this as being that close of a contest. I know that this same game occurred last year, but I just have to believe that JC is not as good as last year and HHS is better than last year. Factor in the long drive to Fort Thomas and I look for the Birds to prevail 49-12.

To this, I would say the JC team was plagued with horrible fumbling the first half of the season. The Bell County game was 6-6 going into the half when JC did not fumble for two quarters. The Sheldon Clark game included eight fumbles lost (EIGHT) and several other fumbles which we recovered but killed drives. The unforced fumbling is much, much less since the Middlesboro game, although that's not to say timely fumbles won't happen this year against HHS, but the first four games may as well have been a different team from the team which wears the Eagle uniforms now.

Highlands has brought their "A Game" on all twelve occasions this year. It appears it's JC who left theirs at the house four times this year.

 

It only takes one off game and the dream is over.
