NKY teams have plenty of talent, but they simply lack the depth when matched up against a team like X. They probably have 50 players on their roster that would start on a typical NKY 6A team, and certainly twice as many at that level as even an SK this year.

 

That being said, Miles will be the best player on the field, but unless SK can move the ball down field without him, using him as a decoy, with Lawrence running and passing successfully, I am not sure they will be able to score as often as necessary to keep up.

And wow, those special teams! The pressure they put on the punter and their ability to set up a return was impressive. It may have been a better plan to punt out-of-bounds in every case even if it meant losing a few 'gross' yards to keep the 'net' in hand. Although our punts were very good our net yards were almost non-existent. Giving them a short field was not conducive to holding on to that brief but very satisfying 10 - 7 lead in the 2nd quarter.

They are good but I hope you are not just basing that off of the game vs Ryle. SK passing game is more sophisticated than Ryles.

 

SK's passing game will depend on pass protection and the score. If X jumps out quick and forces SK to pass to catch up it will be more difficult to be successful. If they are able to run the ball some what effectively it will go a long way in helping their passing game.

 

I still say 31-14 X with their last TD coming late in the 4th.

If St. X wins this game by a score or 52-7 (or worse), with SK scoring their only TD late in the 4th quarter against X's #3's, then this year's St. X team probably deserves to be considered the greatest HS football team to come out of Kentucky, ever... period.

Back to the game. I have a question for the people from the Ville. How good is Manual??? The game I watched last night, if not for some (almost all) dropped passes Manual should have won. IMO. So I'm thinking if Manual is not a good team how will S.K. be able to hang with X?? I hope this question dosn't upset S.K. fans, just being real.

The one thing that will set these two teams apart is the strength and the speed on defense and special teams of St. X. Simpson still has 150+ all purpose but doesn't find the endzone enough.

Hockentucky, you are more on track about the statistics mentioned. Sounds like Miles Simpson is a very good player, but how many players on St. X scored against Ryle? Ulitmately, particularly this year, I don't think St. X cares if they have an individual that leads the state in rushing or passing statistics as long as their team wins.

AS said before, X is playing without their 1st RB ( #3 ) because he is now playing defense due to two starting LB's are injured. Even with that, 9 different players scored against Ryle. X has no individual stars but a whole slew of one's who would be if they were playing elsewhere. It will be easy to stop one player, ask #34 for Ryle.

Apples and Oranges in regards to who was on the schedule for both.....but take solace where you need it to, the scoreboard this time Friday night, will tell the real tale.

Our 2002 team probably would've beat this SK team by that margin, but I digress.
