Although the merits of any national ranking system are subject to debate, are you contending that USA Today's poll is not "anyone important?" If so, I respectfully disagree. Whether you agree with it or not, I think most level-headed fans would consider it a credible source.

 

With HHS ranked #9 and no team from "the Greater Cincinnati area" ranked in spots #1 - 8, I think it's fair to say USA Today considers HHS "the best team in the greater Cincinnati area."

 

I hesitate to respond to this argument that HHS is #9 in the country because I don't want anyone to think that I am taking anything away from their talent or tradition. I feel like HHS is probably the most talented/best executing team, from top to bottom, in the Greater Cincinnati area(maybe in the state of Ohio and KY). That being said, I find it hard to believe that there aren't 9 teams better in FL, TX, CA, NJ, PA...etc. There may be 9 better teams in each of the states that I mentioned above, for that matter. I am not sure what the criteria for the determination of the national rankings but I am sure that it has to do with the strength of schedule and record, but again, that is based on the schools in this area.

 

Again, all of that said, it is nice to have a team from NKY mentioned with the top teams in the country.

The same argument (above) could be made for any of the traditional Ohio powerhouses. It wouldn't sell as many newspapers if all the top 25 teams were from TX, FL & CA.

But the top powerhouses in Ohio do get wins consistly against teams from those states stated above!

So who now doubts me when I say that CF can yank the HHS fans chains like no other?

If some of you don't have kids and want to get out of giving away Candy on Saturday night, head on over to Nippert Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati around 7:00 PM to watch the #1 and #2 team in the city battle it out for the GCL and City titles.

 

Oh BTW, St. X is not going to beat Moeller. No way X's anemic offense is going to be able to keep up with Moeller's, barring turnovers on Moeller's part.

Seriously, I have no idea. But, if he doesn't, I look for Tyler Fennell to have a big game. He has never failed to step up when called upon. For a change of pace, Streeter and Bardo will add a little speed to get outside.

 

It will be interesting to see how Dale mixes these three into the running game Friday night.

Leave it to CF to high jack a thread. Must be slow over in Ohio. You are way off base or you have some really, I mean really close inside connections. There are all types of people that post on BGP. Fans, players, parents, siblings, even Coaches!:thumb: Some have no knowledge of what they are talking about and others do.

 

Now with that said, I heard at the Christmas Walk last year that HHS and Colerain talked and couldn't agree on a date. Simple as that. Nothing more, nothing less.

HHS plays Ryle this week. I like the Birds in this one.

That's a pretty good reason to be a Highlands fan.

 

It is flattering to see the Colonels pick up a shout-out in a Highlands-Ryle thread.

If somehow the Birds could be kept in the 20's, Ryle would have a real shot at this game. But, easier said than done as Ryle will have to play ball-control on offense and make the most of every opportunity. You should see more balance from the Raider O as Hempel continues to vary his receiver targets which will help prevent the Birds from focusing entirely to stop the ground game.

I'm sure both teams have improved since earlier in the season. I like what I've seen from the Birds this week in practice. The focus, discipline and attention to detail was obvious. As LN has pointed out, Dale is unpredictable. Almost reminds me of practices during the playoffs. That's not to imply in anyway the Birds are looking past the Raiders. That's not going to happen with the coaching staff. I expect the game to be hard fought by two good teams.
