Not really sure what your point is. An injured player? Conner came back before he was 100%. Luke Stein played the entire playoffs in a cast in 07. So yeah if the kid is cleared to play then I would say yes. Do they do it differently in Park Hills?

Actually, maybe he did hold the keeper til the x game but if anyone that knew Bardo or listened to what Highlands posters were posting about Bardo during the summer at 7 on 7's and knew (which many do) that Will is also a track star, should be able to figure out that the keeper would be a staple in the Highlands O.

 

Then again, I kinda remember some back in the summer just couldn't believe that Bardo was going to be any kind of Quarterback since he did not play it his Jr. year.:lol::lol:

 

Agreed. And two things - it's amazing how well Tony G & Bardo played at QB considering they didn't start until their senior years, and man am I looking forward to Towles' senior season. If he can keep his head on straight & keep working hard, the '11 season could really be something special.

 

One last point. I really hope a decent school takes a flyer on Bardo even though they only have 6 games of film to rely on. Some think he'd play defense in college, but I'd love to see him get a shot at QB.

Agreed, I think he was just getting warmed up. Fine young man that was really beginning to live up to the hype. IMO he would not disappoint a school that takes a flyer. He has the talent and should be given a look....

What I mean is that you have a 6'5 sophomore QB starting for the NO 8 team in the country. Once Highlands wins the state championship his name will start getting tossed around due to his position and roll in winning at such a young age. Throw in with that that he is a very talented QB right now with all the potential in the world and you are going to have coaches really looking at him the next two years. This year he will be in the shadow of a stellar senior class but the next season he will be a popular name in Nky and beyond. That's what I mean

 

Couldn't hurt to have a Grandpa w/ no hitters in the Senior and Junior circuits, in the Baseball Hall of Fame and a sitting US Senator. Just like Collinsworth, however, the name / lineage may get you a look because it would be a nice story to stitch together, but you still have to perform once those eyes are on you.

 

I feel confident Dale will not put Towles in a position to fail this year. Throw enough to keep the DBs honest and don't throw interceptions. If you have to throw it 10 rows deep in the stands, do it. HHS can recover from an intentional grounding penalty, but an interception could be pivotal.

I think anytime you're missing key personnel or they're playing in different positions it will have some effect. Unfortunately it will not be enough to equate to a Ryle victory. You will not see the same Birds defense on the field Friday that you saw on the field in the beginning of the year. Highlands will be 18 points better than Ryle at the end of the night this Friday at DCM.

I disagree with your last point. I actually think CF calls things pretty much how he sees them... he's sometimes wrong and sometimes right, but on the whole I think he's pretty fair about things. He's clearly not a "Highlands hater."

 

CF made the point that St. X may not be as good as people thought. The Bombers had a very close call against a team many thought they were going to beat handily two weeks ago (winning 3-2, yep, that's right, the final score was 3-2 in a football game!), and they lost by 9 this past week. It may be the case that Moeller puts the smackdown on them this week (I hope not, but it's definitely a possibility)... if that happens I think CF's assessment of St. X may be on the money. We'll see this weekend...

1) I am certainly both right and wrong...so is everyone

2) I do call things as I see them, no holds barrred

3) I am certainly NOT a "Highlands hater", despite the fact that my wife's three brothers all went to CovCath. :sssh:

 

What I said about X was true before they played Highlands and now folks are beginning to see it come to reality. The fact of the matter is that offensively, this year's X squad is one of the worst I've seen in quite some time. They've actually gone backwards since the beginning of the year, I think. And personally, I think they are going to lose to Moeller this weekend and finish the year with 3 losses.
