I disagree with your last point. I actually think CF calls things pretty much how he sees them... he's sometimes wrong and sometimes right, but on the whole I think he's pretty fair about things. He's clearly not a "Highlands hater."

CF made the point that St. X may not be as good as people thought. The Bombers had a very close call against a team many thought they were going to beat handily two weeks ago (winning 3-2, yep, that's right, the final score was 3-2 in a football game!), and they lost by 9 this past week. It may be the case that Moeller puts the smackdown on them this week (I hope not, but it's definitely a possibility)... if that happens I think CF's assessment of St. X may be on the money. We'll see this weekend...

 

I think X is as good as advertised. There schedule is in the top 5 in the country! They don't play any cupcakes,and the games that they lost were by respectable margins. Highlands and St. Iggy have a very good chance of winning state titles. If X can beat Moeller,they will be in the hunt for a state title also. (As for HHS and Ryle I predict a hard fought game.)

Although the merits of any national ranking system are subject to debate, are you contending that USA Today's poll is not "anyone important?" If so, I respectfully disagree. Whether you agree with it or not, I think most level-headed fans would consider it a credible source.

 

With HHS ranked #9 and no team from "the Greater Cincinnati area" ranked in spots #1 - 8, I think it's fair to say USA Today considers HHS "the best team in the greater Cincinnati area."

OK... I'll bite on this one.

 

St. X may be the underdog against Moeller, but the game is by no means a "slam dunk." Remember, everyone (and I mean everyone) outside of Ft. Thomas predicted that Highlands would get taken behind the woodshed by the Bombers. Not only did Highlands win, but they actually dominated the game. St. X definitely has a chance to win this game on Saturday.

 

If St. X wins on Saturday and Highlands wins Friday night, then Highlands can lay claim to being the only area team to beat St. X during the regular season, with no area team having defeated HHS in the regular season. That fact certainly gives Highlands a major claim to being the best in Greater Cincinnati this year.

1. Highlands should definitely take Ryle lightly. Ryle is a terrible team. Just ask Ryan Ernst.
