If you can't love the one you want, love the one you are with. There are too many nice cute ladies in the state. Seek her and when he finds her, wild horses couldn't keep him away.

Tell this guy to move on.

 

If she came to him and said "I want to take a break," then that means she's already got somebody else in mind, or lined up.

 

Leave her alone and avoid contact for as long as possible. If she wants to come back, make her come crawling back to him, not vice versa.

They officially split tonight as she said she needs time to think, but she still wants to talk to him during this time, so I have no idea what's in the cards for these two. She says she still cares about him and wants to be friends but can't handle the relationship right now.

Speaking as a female, she is trying to have her cake and eat it, too. No girl that is happy wants to cut her man loose in order to "think." She might care about him and maybe feel sorry for him, but she is definitely not in love with him. Move on, man.
