Fielder is like Hartline to me. Not the right person for the job. To me redshirting two stud fresh makes no sense. I've felt all year long that they are crazy for not playing Cobb or getting the ball in his hands more. I'd either go Cobb or Cobb while working Newton in slowly. The 2nd would be what I'd try first. You don't know what you have with Newton till you put him on the field. Sounds like he might not be ready but it's not like they've had a star at QB IMO.

Well, it's official - Hartline is done for the season.

I would say either we throw a Freshman in or we go with cobb.

I saw we go with Cobb as the primary ball handler and then mix in whichever freshman we don't want to redshirt for a few plays here an there. Anytime a game is out of hand, I saw we go to the freshman. Against EKU, let the freshman start.

To get the most out of Cobb's ability, I would think they will have to go with Fiddler or Newton as the regular guy and use Cobb in the Wildcat and maybe on occasion under center. I don't see Cobb as the full time guy.

Brooks needs to call up Tony Sparano, get some wildcat tips, and let Cobb do his thing.

I say go with Fidler and Newton and use Cobb at times.

The WR is greatly weakened without Cobb out wide.

You can incorporate him into the offense without having him take snaps.

They were like 1-4 with him at QB last year.

I say go ahead and begin the Newton experiment. No sense further impeding his progress for Fidler, who is not going to be the in the plans for the future.

Sounds about right. I agree. I voted Fidler because the Staff will give him a shot 1st.

Steve Spurrier is pretty pleased that Kentucky shot themselves in the foot:

“We were all happy they didn’t put that running quarterback in there,” Spurrier said. “I’m glad they didn’t use him until the last possession because we were in disarray there. Couldn’t tackle him.”

Well, ESPN just reported that Hartline will be out at least 4 weeks. Is it possible that he isn't out for the season?

So who are UK fans going to blame now? Hartline? Michael Porter?

I say put in Morgan newton as soon as he proves to be ready regardless of the opponent. He is likely the future starting qb, now is the time to get him ready. IMO.

Rich Brooks has announced that they'll lift Newton's redshirt and he'll start getting reps with Fidler. They'll use Cobb in the Wildcat.

I'm disappointed in this choice, but it is what it is.

My prediction - 5-7 on the season with a chance to be 6-6.

^ Might as well get him ready for next year. He can't be to much worse.

Why? Fidler will be gone very soon and Newton still has 3 years ahead of him and by getting him so playing time experience now it will only benefit him. Brooks is thinking what is best for us right now AND for the future. Honestly I think its a very wise decision.
