Coach Brooks says Hartline’s injury is “significant… It does not look good”.

So, who do you name the starter and work with all week leading into Auburn and the rest of the season?

Can we add a poll to the top please?

Done deal. I'm assuming from what I've read, that both Mossakowski and Newton are physically capable of playing, but Brooks would prefer they sit.

Fidler should be the starter with Cobb running the Wildcat. They should probably use that formation more than they have thus far this season, but it is not something you can do all the time. Randall Cobb has thrown 1 pass this year, he played extremely well today and I think how they played him is the best way possible to utilize all of his talents. I do not think Cobb would be as effective in the starting quarterback role as he is in his current role.

Unless we are going to scrap our entire offense for some type of spread option attack only throwing the ball 10% of the time, Cobb is not our best option for starting QB.

Nothing I have read or heard from our coaches has led me to believe that Newton or Mossakowski is physically or mentally ready to play at this level, and throwing them in now could ruin them for a long time.

Bring in Newton and get him ready for next year. Then you redshirt Moosakowski this year and have 2 ready QB's for next year. You put Cobb in you take away your playmaker. You have to play Newton he is the NOW quarterback. Moss may leave in a couple years anyways for MLB. Will Fidler is another Hartline and should NOT be allowed on the field.

I think Fidler gives us the best option right now. Let Cobb run the wildcat and I think this gives us the best chance to win. If I remember right Fidler was beating Hartline early on and then got into trouble and that hurt Fidlers chances.

Now if the coaches are ready to throw in the towel on the season then play one of the freshman QB's (I think one of them is redshirted though). Let them get some experience.

I say Cobb. With the things that UK runs, the power game, zone, etc. you can move those to Shotgun, and run an offense like that. The traditional Wildcat, with the Jet Sweep, the Counter, and the Zone Running game, can only take you so far. You could do alot of hybrid things with Cobb in a SPREAD system. That is more of what worked today. Announcers can call that the "Wildcat", it really wasn't. At least with what Malzahn and Lee did are Arkansas.

It doesn't make sense to me that you would redshirt both freshman QB's, from all accounts I've heard Newton is physically ready and has the skills to not only play but succeed. Personally I think it's a little silly to keep the two together, JMO...

I don't think Will did anything bad today. He was a little high on some passes early but he also made some great throws. He is a better passer than I gave him credit for. I think that Cobb should keep his role and maybe we would see a little more Wildcat formation but he needs to be at receiver and returning kicks. The freshmen would be nice but if Hartline is gone for the season then you stick with Will until you are no longer bowl eligible then maybe turn to a freshmen. That would be tough because you dn't want to ruin a redshirt but it would give one of them great experience for next year. All of this depends on Hartline's health and I thought that he was the better QB today. He outplayed Garcia until he got hurt. I wish him all the best and hope the MRI reveals nothing too bad for him. obviously all my opinion though. :thumb:

Cobb or a Freshman. The coaches blew this one and I am a huge Joker/Brooks fan. They should have stayed with Cobb for the 2 point conversion. I've seen Fidler practice and he is not very good, I'm nervous everytime he passes. I'm 75% sure they will stay with Fidler though, until they can barely move the ball on ULM. Then they will make a change.

I've said that as well. But few here agree.

I'm going Newton.

If you put Cobb at QB teams know he is just going to run the ball. He arm is okay at best. I would let Newton QB and then bring Cobb in alot more to get some snaps at the wildcat. If you put Cobb at QB then who are you going to throw too?

If we don't go to Newton, I think Fidler is a safe bet.

I think Cobb gives them the best chance. He's the best offensive player on the squad, and when you put it in his hands 50+ times a game, he's going to make plays. I think they will utilize the combo of Fidler and Cobb.

I voted Newton just because I don't want to see them use Cobb full time at QB. He is more valuable to the team (IMO) at WR and wildcat packages, punt returns (don't want to see him returning kicks while playing QB like last year) etc..

Fidler I just don't have faith in, admitting that I haven't saw him play much.

Even though I voted Newton I agree with your prediction.
