I'd say he is 5'11" but he is stout.

 

Justis is an very good defender and also very heady.

I saw him play a few games his freshman season.

 

 

Not even close to the same player now. So your judgement of him is not even close. As I have stated before, he will make a huge difference this year. His loss last year, really hurt the Cards.

When the season starts, you will know what I mean. Morehead offered him a scholly last year, just before he got hurt.

 

I understand him not being rated as a top 10 player this year, but next year he will be in the top 5. That should give GRC with 3 players in the top 5, Stenzel, Zollo, and Purvis. GRC has the talent, now we just have to stay healthy and get it done on the court. :thumb:

From what I remember Setty is not the game changer that Mason has depended on in the past. He may have gotten better over the summer but he wasn't that impressive last year. Without Middleton, Mason "on paper" will not be the team they have been in the past. They seem to always pull something out of thier hat in March and beat Clark County, but my gut tells me that isn't the case this year. Anyone who says different is being a "Homer" and not being honest with themselves. No way this GRC team should be second to any one in the tenth region " on paper". I think Corey Rogers is the real game changer that is being over looked this year. With all the attention the rest of the teams gets his athleticism is over looked. This all is just my humble opinion of course!:popcorn:

The keys to this game when it is played will be who is "on" offensively and which team plays the best TEAM defense. Help side, switching, etc.

Mason Co and GRC are 1a and 1b no matter how you slice it and I think there is a bigger gap this year between those two teams and the rest of the field than in years past.

 

I think GRC is the most talented team in the 10th but I have no problem putting Mason Co as a preseason #1. The kids at Mason just know how to win come tourney time.

 

I think Bishop Brossart is a little low as I would put them on par with Scott and Campbell.

 

As far as the individual player rankings Zollo should be in top 3. I would probably move Pawsat up a couple of places and would have no problem with him or Smith from Scott at 4 & 5.

 

I think if Travis Purvis had played last year he would be a top 5 player in this years rankings but if he stays healthy he will be there by the end of the season.

I agree Middleton was a huge key to their success last year. They will also miss Downing, loved the way he played D. Rogers is a brute inside, and amazes how quick he is with his feet. The one players that I feel is getting over looked is Jaylan Daniels. He would start for any other team in the 10th, but will see major minutes off the bench for GRC.

I for one have always found it amusing when folks get all hot and bothered over rankings. I've said it before and I'll say it again - they're just conversation fodder and a means for followers of some teams to thump their chests a bit before the season starts.

 

Someone (or two) said that what they really look forward to is another exciting season in the 10th with some fine teams and players; and hoped for an injury-free season. I second that thought. First and foremost, obviously, for the players. Secondarily, to eliminate the need for the woulda coulda shoulda stuff.

 

While football has always been and always will be my favorite sport, 10th Region basketball is pretty daggone good!
