10th Region Cats Pause Preview

Featured Replies

I'm sorry, but the term homer comes to mind when looking at the ranking. Clark Co. has a lot more talent. They are well-coached (as is Mason Co.) and have a substantial size advantage. I just can't see objectively ranking Mason higher right now.

On paper I see your argument, but this group of GRC players has yet to prove they can get over the hump of finally making it to Rupp Arena. Mason knows what it takes to get there and bring back players with the experience of actually being there. Other than maybe Stenzel, during his 8th grade year, I don't believe GRC has that overall experience. There will be great pressure, over the next two seasons, on this team to finally get it done. Do they have the talent to finish the job, yes. Only time will tell. Good luck to both teams this upcoming season. It should be a fun year.

Doubt it. GRC has too many weapons. If they had Purvis last year it wouldn't of even been close.

:lol::deadhorse:

So you are telling me that Treg Setty or Neal Pawsat cannot guard him? Tyler Black or Logan Manship cannot guard him? And please tell me how it wouldnt have been close last year. Please explain. To me Im not sure who they would have put on the court and this year will be an even harder task for GRCs coaching staff. Yes they have alot of talent but all of their players are bigs. They do not have anybody on the team that will be able to bring the ball up against Mason and their bigs are not good enough on the ball defenders to guard Setty or Pawsat so how are they going to match up? Can the GRC faithful plese explain?

Here is my take on this,First off I'm just glad that the 10th Region has 2 top tier teams like GRC and Mason that we can all watch along with a few other heavy weights!

It's nice having 2 teams that will possibly be Top 10 teams in the State.

Second Preseason is what it is and that is Preseason,Which means nothing honestly,Just bragging rights for the fans and you have to admit it's fun to get on here and see everybody support there teams like they do in the Region.

The 10th should come down to Mason and Clark but who knows,The only thing we do know now is it will be a lot of fun and hopefully Injury free ride to March!:thumb:

Its easy to see, GRC and Mason County will be the primary teams fighting it out for the 10th Region Crown next year. Just like it was last year.

Why all the fuss? GRC and Mason County should probably 1 and 1A anyway. And its October! Alot can happen between now and March.

Everyone knows that Preseason Rankings don't matter at all anyways. If that was the case Scott County would have 11 Straight State Titles. Even if GRC is ranked higher in the Preseason than Mason, that really means nothing. Rankings don't matter, the only thing that does is who is holding that trophy in Rupp in March.

Get off of Fraysure for writing his OPINION! I'm sure you would jump at the chance to write the Rankings for the Cats Pause and when you did, people could rip your rankings and tell you how dumb you are too...

Here is who I see starting for GRC. You make the match ups for Mason and then we can compare. I do believe that losing Barner for Mason will hurt more than most are saying.

C Cory Rogers

F Travis Purvis

F Vinny Zollo

SG Stenzel

PG Kendred

You are mis-informed on not having anyone to bring the ball up the floor. Kendred will be able to handle the PG position.

:thumb: Not sure Mason will be top 10 in the state though. See Mason possibly in the top 20.

Injury free is what I hope for all teams. Bring your best and then may the best team win.

Um who is going to guard Pawsat and Setty? You are going to have those three bigs in against Masons offense? Probably gonna be a long night once again for Clarks bigs. I understand that you are a GRC fan and will defend your team to the fullest but the fact is that Mason Countys big men are not what you would consider big men. The are very versatile and can play many positions as well as guard many positions. They will more than likely just clear the ball out and take it in. Clarks best chance against Mason is to play some type of zone such as the one Shelby Valley did or just stay home.:ylsuper:

I'm thinking that is why he put "possibly"?:idunno:

Pawsat IMO has gotten so much stronger since last year, saw him at the movies the other day and the kid is an ox. Tyler Black, B Lang, Manship will all be able to handle Clark Co's bigs, along with Setty.

Why I wanted someone to list players by position, then we could see possible matchup or mis-matches and how guarding assignments could be assigned.

Pervis is every bit of a Small forward as Pawsat is. Pervis can shoot the three very consistently. People are going to be suprised with him. Kindred is what this team needed to get and they got it. Watch out! :thumb:

My guess for starting 5:

G-J Lang

G J Gilbert

F T. Setty

F N. Pawsat

F B Lang

This would be my guess...some other Mason Co fans may know more.

Bench: Manship, T. Black and others

Thanks WildcatScratchFever appreciate it.

With this lineup I could see the matchups of Setty on Zollo, Pawsat on Purvis, B Lang on Rogers, Gilbert on Stenzel and J Lang on Kendred. Rogers is a brute and I see a mis-match there. Really like the way Pawsat plays , but don't think he will be able to handle Purvis. The Mason faithful have not seen him play lately...he will make a huge difference. Feel Gilbert will have trouble containg Stenzel. If Mason's 3 forwards get in foul trouble, just don't see the strength of Mason's bench matching up. For GRC if we get our guards in foul trouble....the same can be said.

Boy do I look forward to another amazing season in the 10th region this year.:thumb:

I think you may have misunderstood me on this. I am not comparing Pawsat and Pervis as players I am simply asking you how they will guard Masons bigs off the dribble, and shooting the three does not make him as versatile as Setty or Pawsat. None of Clarks bigs can handle the ball quite like Masons bigs that is all im saying.:thumb:
