I don't want to single out any defensive player in this team win, but some of those sacks and hits by Roller were just jaw-dropping.

 

He had a hit right in front of us that just made me cringe. It was nasty!

Weird game to watch. 6'7 290 all-American tackle going up against my new hero #53 for HHS who had to be 100 pounds lighter and 10 inches shorter yet X never really ran behind the big boy. QB never attempted a pass more than 5 yards downfield. Weird, weird offense by X.

 

Great tackling by the Birds. #1 made a really nice play that I recall on a play that could have been big. Roller looked good. AC ran really hard and took some blows but kept on churning. O-line played well.

 

By the way the terrace could be the nicest place to watch a high school game that I've seen. Sweet looking spot.

Why throw the halfback pass so early when you really hadn't even set it up very well? Seemed like an act of desperation so early in the game.

I am so pumped up about this victory. Congratulations to all our friends at HHS on this very huge victory over a OH power like X. Awesome, awesome night of football for KY.

No question. He and AC were the entire offense tonight . Hated to see him holding that left arm on the sideline. Looked like he was in pain.

Of course there's going to be a big drop off after someone like Bardo goes out, but don't underestimate Towles. He has a lot of talent and also a lot of talent around him who will step up. Let's hope it's all a moot point though.

As you can imagine the X fans are stunned. Here's my favorite quote on another board:

 

"X just threw another screen pass. Shocking."

BTW #27 for HHS intimidated some of the X receivers. Late in the game #23 for X would have put his hands in his pockets had they been available instead of extending them for a pass and wondering if #27 was going to hit him.

The Bluebirds certainly earned their celebration and I don't want to distract from the party. But I have been asking this since before the season and now seems like an appropriate time to ask again ... is this the greatest Highlands team ever? They have to finish this the way they started but this win surely makes you start trying to compare other Highlands teams to this one versus comparing this team to others.

On the play Bardo was injured on, the St. X db horsecollered him with his right hand, had his face mask with the left hand and drug him to the ground about 6 feet out of bounds. Highlands showed great resilience by hanging tough with the "next man up". Great team effort by Highlands.

I know he is young and will get better but right now he is not accurate and doesn't run like Bardo. But I hope its moot as well.
