Just an awesome win!!! Hope Bardo is okay. He was in some pain toward the end of the game. Watched the replay on the video screen after the match and his elbow hyper extended quite a bit. Hope the St. X player who took a brutal hit from his own teammate late in the 4th quarter is okay too.

They are the best in KY and I hate to be the Debbie Downer, but until they play and beat Elder let's keep greater Cincinnati out of it.

I am anxiously awaiting the inevitable "Wow, this Cincy Saint X team is big, fast and strong" comments that are soon to come once this game kicksoff. Its a right of passage as far as I'm concerned. The Louisville Saint X fans went through it. The Trinity fans went through it...now it's Highlands in the barrel!

 

I'm not sure the weather bodes well for the 'birds against the Big Ten type team that is going to grind it out on the ground. But that's why we play the game. Hats off to the Kentucky team for taking on this monumental task. I hope they win, so Kentucky football can get some regional respect, but having seen the Cincy Saint X team in action...the folk lore is true and I'm afraid the 'birds need a divine intervention.

 

I'll be anxiously awaiting the Highlands' fans comments regarding what they see in action. It's a machine.

I'm impressed. I don't neccessarily think anyone can fault those who thought this game would be a blowout, because everything pointed to it being one. But I am very impressed. I honestly thought the defense for highlands would be their downfall and obviously I was wrong, they seemed to be a totally different animal out there. It was apparently a defensive battle between two great defensive teams and the better team (from what I have heard as I did not see nor have I watched the game) won. Congrats to Highlands, I'm happy for you and you leave no doubt who the best team in KY is right now.

 

For Bardo, I hope you heal and get back on the field quickly. It was hard to watch my brother sit for half of his senior year hurt and it was harder for him, and I don't like to see that for anyone. You deserved the win and you deserve to be out there with your team to lead them to what should be yet another state championship.

Then don't be one.

The funniest part of the night was the St. X student section yelling, "You play Beechwood! You play Beechwood!"

Actually, the Birds had it inside the five on three occasions. We got three points out of that, instead of 24. So it could have theoretically been 33-7.
