Highlands always seems to get these teams playing their worst game of the season. Coincidence I guess.

Yeah I know.....We kept watching the replay over and over last night on the DVR waiting for a different outcome. It never happened!!! I expected the Birds to play tough but never in a million years would I of thought that a undersized Highlands would manhandle X the way they did. A very huge WIN for Highlands High School.

On the play Bardo was injured on, the St. X db horsecollered him with his right hand, had his face mask with the left hand and drug him to the ground about 6 feet out of bounds. Highlands showed great resilience by hanging tough with the "next man up". Great team effort by Highlands.

 

And the penalty was called. Bardo gave a great stiff-arm and the tackler held on to whatever he could to get around Bardo's reach. Unfortunately they both came down on his throwing arm. I truly hope that he is ok.

Hats off to Dale and his staff on the greatest victory in Highlands history! I work on the other side of the river and did not meet one person who gave us a chance all week.

In the prediction thread, I especially liked the response to jimmyjr's post - "You can't be serious" I think it was, followed by more discussion about how big, fast and fierce St. X was.

I was too busy noticing that the refs always put X's ball forward and HHS ball backward when they spotted it. But hey, that's just me and it happens every game. :D

 

I know one of the refs very well, actually shared a bedroom with him growing up. He's a NewCath guy, so.... JUST KIDDING. I thought that the whole crew did a great job in a very, very highly anticipated game. I was proud of my Bro as well tonight.

Is this win as big or bigger than winning a State Championship? I'm wondering because winning the championship puts Highlands on top of 5A, while this game in a sense puts them on top of the entire state.

Great job Highlands, If Kentucky Schools and Ohio Schools played with the same amount of kids, I think Ky football is better, X is 3 times the size of Highlands. Big win like 1967 New Cath win at the pit. Mex your brother did a great job.

Congrats Birds. Now I'm gonna puke because I just realized OHS has no shot a state title now.
