Anyone know the last time Highlands beat Cincy St. X.?

In 1943 we beat them 14-13. That same year, we lost to Dayton (KY) by the same score. It was our only loss of the season.

 

We also shut them out in 1916.

You know, It was a (mythical) state championship season, and described as their most successful season up to that date. Sounds like one of Dale's relatives must have been telling the story. ;-)

There is always a bunch of characters over there! :lol: There is a story, but I'm not sure if I should tell it.

As I have posted above this was a GREAT win for Highlands and N. Ky. But as for being a statement about Ky. or N. Ky. football versus Cincinnati football, all this win says is it is possible for a Ky./N. Ky. team to win against one of the Cincinnati football elites. I don't think you can generalize this win beyond that. But that is a huge leap in itself because I would guess the vast majority, maybe 100%, of Cincinnati football fans (and most in N. Ky. outside Ft. Thomas) never believed that a win like this was possible. The fact is this Highlands team is an especially talented group and that is what it took to get this win. They have shown us a win like this is possible and that is awesome but that is all it proves.

What's really funny is that when you read the story of that Dayton game, they account for three touchdowns for the Birds. Yet, we lost 14-13. Why do I get the feeling Coach Luecke (who caught a TD pass in the game) was their historical source on that year?

As one of the "Detrol" characters I can say that there is definitely an advantage to being closer to the restroom. LOL
