Well thank you. I enjoy these boards as they offer a much different atmosphere than Yappi does. And I do speak well of KY prep football on other sites because it's the right thing to do. I have a tremendous amount of respect for NKY prep football and I can't wait for the day that Conner or Ryle or Simon Kenton or Cooper :eek: bring home that first 6A title to NKY. It will happen.

I am big enough to make the comment, I am afraid that the portly ref did not want to bend down anymore after marking the ball. A measurement or two would have been nice. Mr. orange hands made sure we had plenty of time:laugh:

Finally got to see the game broadcast today. That was just the coolest thing ever!

Cris who?? Also, why was he wearing a yellow shirt... what's up with that? The craziest thing was when they did the split-screen of Cris in the stands watching as AC fumbled the ball at the goal-line... I mean, was that necessary?!?!?!

 

Merrill Hoge looked ripped... that dude is still huge!

 

I thought that Jared Lorenzen gave a nice telephone interview... that was a nice touch. Plus, the advertisement about Highlands High School was very classy.

I could post about this game all night, but I won't. I do want to offer one last comment...

 

On Friday night a team took to the field carrying a heavy burden... the burden of preserving an 18-game win streak, the burden of representing 94 Highlands football squads that had come before them, the burden of bringing honor to their school and community while being covered on national television, the burden of defeating a first-rate Cincinnati program with four times the male enrollment, the burden of gathering respect for Kentucky high school football at the national level, and the burden of pursuing the goal of being the best football team in the program's storied history.

 

That team conducted itself with dignity and sportsmanship. The student-athletes played well and played to win for the entire length of the game, despite encountering adversity and setbacks. They prepared thoroughly and their preparation paid dividends, and the team's hard work and dedication earned them a great victory, perhaps the greatest in program history.

 

I want to thank all the Highlands players, coaches and fans in attendance for representing your school and community so well Friday night... you brought great honor to Fort Thomas and all those who claim her as their home (even those living in North Carolina!). I am so proud of you and humbled to be associated with you as an alumnus and fan. Go 'Birds!

St X hasn't run much to let anyone know one way or the other. I've had my questions there since he took over two seasons ago, but he did win a title filling in as a pup. As it stands I'd say he has a long ways to go before he ever sees the field at QB for UC...

Being the winning qb tells me that he's a "game manager" but certainly not a D1-er. In fairness to him, he certainly wasn't given the chance to show much due to the poor decisions by the OC for X. However, he looks like he doesn't take advantage of his size when it comes to throwing. He short-arms it.

It's impossible to tell what Massa is capable of, and the play-calling really doesn't do anything in the way of showing what his strengths or weaknesses are. Based off the little I've seen, he won't see the field anytime soon...but he's built a lot like Tony Pike, so maybe there is potential in there.
