Should Cov Cath install lights?

Featured Replies

Maybe they just need some new fans:banana:

I really don't understand the reason for picking out certain post to rebut the reason they would like to see lights at Cov Cath:cry: It's an opinion that we all have, and it's probably the same opinion as 90% of the U.S. Those that don't want to have the lights can continue rattling on about their traditional reasons, values and beliefs, while the others join the norm on enjoying "Friday Night Under The Lights". I am beginning to think that the Cov Cath light opposing faithful is simply jeolous of those that have the privelege of this Friday Night feeling in your "Home'" stadium. This post has come to a point of little Bobby having to justify why he's still riding the old Huffy and all the other kids having nice Cannondale's (For the old folks, that's an upscale style bicycle). So, no more to say here, I'll just get ready for some Good Ole American Traditional Friday Night High School Football. :dancingpa

You still haven't addressed the biggest impediment to getting lights:

MONEY.

What do the following GCL powers all have in common?

Moe, X, Elder?

They a)have lights but b)play a combined 12 Saturday games and even one Sunday game.

Moeller not only does not have lights, they don't have a field. I'm going to say 'b'.

But who paid for those Good Ole American Traditional Friday Night High School Football lights at the school you are talking about? Taxpayers?

There is so much more that can be done with the money that would go toward lights, such as giving our outstanding teachers a raise, improving the library, more computers, money for a new gym (old one was built in the 50's) and improvements to the complex in general.

Lights would be great and if someone wants to step up well......but truthfully I would prefer the money to be spent else where, where the need is much more important.

...but it's called Friday Night Lights

This is crazy. The "should Cov. Cath. have lights" thread has twice as many post as the Game thread.:idunno::lol:

BTW this is what it looked like on the only night game....

NOTHING beats Friday night High School football.

I couldn't imagine playing all my high school football games on Saturday afternoon.

I agree with this one. But the rest of your "wish list", are you serious?

Improving Library, uh do kids even know what a Card Catalog is anymore?

More computers? Maybe they can be like Cinn. Moeller and get a corporate sponsor and help pay for laptops for everybody.

A new Gym. What's wrong with the old one? Talk about not changing Tradition. Nothing like a sold out CovCath/Holy Cross game in Feb. to turn the floor into a ice skating rink. Seriously, their Gym is fine.

Improvements to the Complex in General. Now that's a laugher there. You can't be serious on this one. I mean, how much more money does the Marge Schott Foundation need to give? The school is new isn't it?

From my experience at most schools, it isn't so much "Friday Night Lights" as "Friday Night (under very weak, low-watt or half burned-out) Lights."

See you can use the light money to do that!

Oh btw, thanks for proving my point about a new gym.

Have you heard of reference books/materials Media rooms etc?

New scoreboard, new press box, new speakers for football, new visitors dugout, new press box for the baseball team, weight equipment for the Schott building, TV cameras to do the games not only via audio but also video and a bunch more improvements that can be done if that money isn't spent on lights!

You still didn't answer my question of who paid for the lights on your field?

Taxpayers?

No CCH player has ever played all of his high school football games on a Saturday afternoon.

That's because CCH travels to other high schools that have lights and actually play on Friday nights.

Old fight, will never happen do to zoning and politics.

I still have yet to see an explanation about the rift between the AD and the neighbors. Anyone?
