Sure is. Probably did every one of the Boone County @ Highlands games since some time in the 70's, maybe earlier than that.:idunno:

BTW why aren't they playing X? I heard just recently that CCH and X might be playing on Monday.

 

Beechwood JV has already played Highlands JV once and has them on the schedule for a second game.

I would say this game ranks up there with the 97 HHS/Moeller game at HHS. What a dandy that was. It once again came down to special teams if I can remember correctly.

This is definitely the only nationally televised football game Highlands has ever played in.

 

To the best of my knowledge, Highlands has only played a team that was ranked first nationally (at the time of the game) in one of the nationwide polls/rankings once before, and that was Cincinnati Colerain last season (believe it or not, Colerain was ranked first in the Massey Ratings at that time). This game was played at Colerain, however.

 

Cincinnati Saint Xavier is currently ranked first in this same rankings (Massey); so, to the best of my knowledge this is the first home game Highlands has ever played against a "top-ranked" team.

 

With that being said, it is hard to compare a game like this to a Highlands home game against Covington Catholic in a year when both Highlands and Covington Catholic are frontrunners for the state title, or the home game against Boyle County back in 2004, when the issue of "top program in (old) 3A" was at stake. If Highlands loses this game (even if the loss is a bad one), it still does not have the same kind of meaning as, say, Highlands losing to Covington Catholic at home on a last-second play back in 2006.

I would love to see the Birds win but i'd also be happy if they just made a game out of it.
