September 18, 200917 yr If he can produce at his current level for five or six more seasons we can say he's a definite top 10 guy. I just hope he doesn't get the injury bug, he's such a phenomenal talent. That run against Cleveland was JB esque.
September 18, 200917 yr He is an absolute freak with his combo of strength, speed , and quickness. He certainly has the talent to be the best ever but he isn't yet. :thumb: I just hope he keeps it up because my fantasy football league is killing people.
September 18, 200917 yr Author I wish he had a BGP account, so he could give his point. I tell him he has a 3rd grade view of it. Which is who is the best at the time is the greatest... I am sure some people thought LT was the best back ever 4 years ago or that TD was the greatest when he was in his peak...
September 18, 200917 yr I think Gale Sayers is the bar. Most would agree he was one of the greatest of all time (if they don't agree, a detailed NFL Films session on the Kansas Comet -- especially those plays where he fakes out guys he can't even see, as far as we know -- is definitely in order). He played seven seasons. Five at a very high level; his last two he played only two games apiece because of his knee injuries. For backs who were great for a short time before injuries destroyed them I can easily put Gale Sayers in that list. A certain coach I knew was in the Bears Training camp. He was a DB from a very good Division 1 program. He said the difference between the NFL and College was taught him by Gale Sayers. He said that the Offense ran a sweep with Sayers. He came up to cut it off. In college he always glanced to his blind side to make sure that someone wasn't coming up to drill him. This time, when he looked blind side, he glanced back to make the hit and Gale Sayers was GONE. That was "light switch" speed he said. I would also add an Earl Campbell and an O.J. Simpson who each had those 6 or 7 world class years but leg trouble or wear and tear ended their runs. Billy Sims was one of those too.
September 18, 200917 yr He needs to play a lot longer than this before I'll even consider it. :thumb: I also question AP's ability to sustain his level of play for a long enough time period to attain that crown. His past 3 seasons of football, Peterson has not been able to play a full slate of games due to injury. A lot of his injuries occur simply because he is a beast and he wants to run over people instead of going down easily or skating to the sidelines.
September 18, 200917 yr LT is a good example of a great back but not an all time great because he doesn't have the numbers for enough years. Are you serious? LT is in his ninth season and his worst was last year...1536 total yards and 12 TD. The guy has over 15000 yards in his career and he's scored 142 TD's. Heck, he's even thrown 7 TD passes. Three seasons over 2000 total yards. Has never scored less than 10 TD's.

I am sure some people thought LT was the best back ever 4 years ago or that TD was the greatest when he was in his peak... LT is a little different. He's done it for a longer period. TD had two great seasons.
September 18, 200917 yr He is very good and if he keeps up this pace I could see him top 5 of all time. Jim Brown Barry Walter OJ Gale
September 18, 200917 yr Peterson certainly has the physical gifts to be an all-timer. There's no doubt about that. But, nobody is the best every in any sport after three seasons.
September 18, 200917 yr He is very good and if he keeps up this pace I could see him top 5 of all time. Jim Brown Barry Walter OJ Gale Depends on how you define RB. Pure RB (Not lined up in the slot, or asked to contribute as much in the passing game except picking up the blitz) Brown Barry Walter Emmitt (never saw Gale) so I'll say Dickerson Combo: Faulk Craig (first w/ 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same year) LT Thurman Thomas Larry Centers (I know, but look at his receptions) Adrian Peterson has a chance to be in group 1. Joseph Forte has a good chance to be one of the greatest in the second.
