Debate time for BGP...

The same thing was being said about Bo Jackson till he was pulled down from the back by a Bengal tackler. AP has a lot to prove before he even gets mentioned as a candidate for the Hall of Fame.

Joseph Forte has a good chance to be one of the greatest in the second.

I'm assuming you mean Matt Forte?

I'm assuming you mean Matt Forte?

You've assumed correctly. Joseph Forte wouldn't make for a very good football player.

If LT wasn't plagued by the injury bug and didn't flop I have a feeling he might be higher on a lot of these lists. Unfortunate.

Still way to early to tell. He has a history of injury in both college and his rookie season, so we will see how that goes. The most talented RB in the game today though.

Depends on how you define RB.

Pure RB (Not lined up in the slot, or asked to contribute as much in the passing game except picking up the blitz)

Brown

Barry

Walter

Emmitt

(never saw Gale) so I'll say Dickerson

Combo:

Faulk

Craig (first w/ 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same year)

LT

Thurman Thomas

Larry Centers (I know, but look at his receptions)

Adrian Peterson has a chance to be in group 1. Joseph Forte has a good chance to be one of the greatest in the second.

I loved watching Eric Dickerson...

Are you serious? LT is in his ninth season and his worst was last year...1536 total yards and 12 TD.

The guy has over 15000 yards in his career and he's scored 142 TD's. Heck, he's even thrown 7 TD passes.

Three seasons over 2000 total yards. Has never scored less than 10 TD's.

Aren't those top 5 numbers for a RB of all time?

I was going to look his stats up until I saw you posted them.

The only reason I brought up LT is because until AP can produce these kinds of number over a sustained period of time, he has no business being mentioned in the top 10. I'd like to see AP finish a season strong first. He has yet to do that.

^Yeah, I don't get it. LT is being dismissed as a Terrell Davis or Priest Holmes type guy who only done it over a 2-3 year period. That's far from the case. He's sustained an elite level of production for his entire career. I'm not sure what people are looking for from the RB position...2-3 years is often what you get. I think close to a decade of 1500+ yards and double digit TD's is sustained excellence. And, I think LT is being prematurely written off. He was injured last year, and had a down year...by his standards. Let's see if he can shake the ankle sprain before we write him off.

There's no way Peterson rates ahead of LT on the all-time list right now.

Also, how much does Peterson's propensity for coughing the ball up lower him on the list? When you're rating all-time backs, issues like that are a factor. To use LT again, this guy rarely turns the ball over.
