This one surprises me. I can understand losses to Boyle and Bell - althought JC lost badly to both. But not this one.

 

JC losing to SC is like Ashalnd losing to Raceland, IMO. Maybe SC can make it 3-in-a-row.

Sheldon Clark is much better than Raceland.

Coach Matney plays favorites, end of story. He tried to showcase JJ Jude so that he could show him off to the Martin county folk. If we could stop playing favorites and play people that will not fumble the ball 3 possessions in a row, then we would have a chance at winning.

I think Sheldon Clark pretty much has had its way with Johnson Central over the years. Granted, the JC program went to another level when Coach Matney took over. I don't know what his career record was against Central when he coached at Sheldon Clark....but he had some pretty good success. The fact is no team can be as good every year as JC has been the last few....it is still only 4 games into the season.

 

Jim Matney is an outstanding football coach. He is a scraper, a fighter, a brawler. I am shocked how at quickly some Central fans are jumping off the bandwagon!

Coach Matney is concern about one thing and thats coach Matney.

It's amazing how quick they turn on you.

If he is making the money he is rumored to make, he should be on a short rope.

So did I (as Ram is "reminding" me in another thread, although at the time of my prediction I wasn't aware that JC's O line coach was going to leave-which is another wiggle attempt by me:D). I knew that JC was going to lose some talented offensive linemen, but figured they'd have some young ones ready to step up to go along with some talented skilled players returning. Don't know if that wasn't the case or the departure of the JC O line coach is the problem. But I'm told that JC's O line isn't any where near as dominant as it was last year. IF that continues to hold, looks like I'm up for a heap of crow when district competition is over. Ashland just looked so very poor last year against us in the playoffs and JC so good, I didn't think it would be possible for Ashland to improve enough to win the district. What I didn't count on was JC falling so much. Oh well.

 

Good luck to JC the rest of the season and congrats to the players and coaches at Sheldon Clark. Well done. :thumb:

WOW! I cannot understand why so many people are beating up Coach Matney. He has done very well at Central, unfortunately everyone has a rebuilding year from time to time, and that is what the Eagles are experiencing right now. Central will be back, mark my words.
