April 27, 201115 yr Reading 56* about the year Joe D had his hitting strak as well as a new book about Branch Rickey. I also have but have not started a book about a minor league game in 1981 that went 33 innings. It's called "Bottom of the 33rd." Finished "Branch Rickey" by Jimmy Breslin. Good light read.
April 27, 201115 yr When my father could see to read, Louis L'Amour was his favorite author. Maybe you could read them aloud and record the, and I'll send them to my dad. Read Last of the Breed my freshmen year in high school and loved it. That and Count of Monte Cristo are probably my favorite books that I've been required to read.
April 27, 201115 yr I thought of Christopher Reeve, for obvious reasons. Reeve seems too...gentle? Rhyme is a tough nut, that's for sure. I actually thought Denzel played him pretty well, even though he's written to be a white man.

May 25, 201115 yr Just finished Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. It was the second time I've read it. I love the book and the deeper meaning behind most of it. Such a good read!

May 26, 201115 yr Read Last of the Breed my freshmen year in high school and loved it. That and Count of Monte Cristo are probably my favorite books that I've been required to read. Last of the Breed was a great book. The Haunted Mesa and The Walking Drum are the only other L'Amour books I've read. Both of those were great as well. I'm reading A Storm of Swords at the moment.

I'm about 300 pages away from finishing A Storm of Swords and getting started on A Feast for Crows. I can't wait to get through them and get the new one. I'm pretty excited to see what happens with some of the characters that weren't featured in A Feast for Crows.

Yeah, that's the one issue I have with the way he does the chapters. Some of the characters (Tyrion specifically), seem like every other chapter is about them, then others (Davos, Dany, etc.) have only like 2-3 in the entire books. I read a chapter and get wrapped up in that characters storyline and then it's a couple hundred pages or more until I get to find out what's happened with them.
May 26, 201115 yr Just saw that today and it reminded me of this post. :lol: That's pretty good. Just finished The White Tiger by Arivand Adiga. It won the Man Booker prize a few years ago, and I think it deserved it.
