Let's kick this off. Opening kickoff is on the 21st so we're about a week away. Both teams coming off strong seasons last year. So, who wins? Why?

I say Boyle County, but I am biased.

Admittedly, I know nothing about Johnson Central so I can't tell you why Boyle County will win, I am just telling you, Boyle County will win.:thumb:

Does anyone have any info on Johnson Central? Are they a smashmouth team? Are they balanced on offense? Do they throw it all of the time? Will they be as good as they were last year or will they fall off this year? How are they defensively? Anyone?:idunno:

I still firmly believe you have to be a great passing team to defeat us. I don't think anyone's running game will be effective against our defense. No one ran the ball effectively on us last year and I think that will be the same this year.

JC had a very good running game last year. I think they return several of their O linemen. Lost their qb (Dillon) and a running back (Richardson). Both were exceptional runners. But they have another kid (No. 5; don't remember his name) who will fill in quite well at the qb spot. He may be a better runner than Dillon was. They also return two of their other three running backs I think. They lost a very good receiver in Ian Welsh. If it takes a good passing team to beat Boyle, unless JC has dramatically improved its passing game from last year, JC won't win. But they will have an exceptionally good running game. They were the second best running game Highlands faced last year, behind only Cinti Colerain. I think they racked up something like 400 yds on the ground against the Birds.

I'll take JC in this one. I don't know much about Boyle, but it takes a very good team to beat JC.

Good thing we are a very good team. How 'bout them REBELS !!!!!!!!!!!!

JC is a very physical team. Look for them to run it 95% of the time.

They run their style offense as well as anyone does in KY. They are skilled in their running game.

They will pass it, they like to get you worried about their running game and then hit you with a quick strike deep.

If Boyle wins it, they have 4A locked up. If they lose it, still will be in the running for 4A.

Boyle is not accustomed to seeing this type of offense. Although Coach French is very familiar with their style, players in Central KY don't see it much.

Boyle plays great run defense, Jc does not having a passing game. Boyle will win in a very entertaining game. You can't be 1-dimensional and beat the Rebels although they are very young.

If Boyle wins that does not mean they have 4A locked up by no means, trust me.

I agree with you SARR there is now way that they would have 4A locked up we haven't even had a game yet. And after week one they have it locked up come on.

Johnson Central is definitely a team capable of beating Boyle County. However, as we all know the Boyle County defense is on lockdown against the run. Johnson Central will remember the name Grant Aumiller if he is 100% ready for the game. But it's not just Aumiller anchoring this defense because every kid is preached everyday to swarm the football and to make sure that they wrap, but Aumiller just happens to stand out more because he makes big plays. Boyle County is a fundamentaly(sp) sound defense all around so I'm going to take Boyle in the game because of the run defense but I also predict a very close game. :ylsuper:

I agree. By no means does Boyle County have 4A locked up. Winning or losing this game doesn't decide the season.

Obviously, I know that one game doesn't make a season. Boyle will be in the mix come November for certain.

But, if they beat JC...look for them to have a very successful season.

Well I guess if Boyle wins Friday then it was a very short season.

However even if they do win there will be a couple of other teams that wear Blue and White that may not think that Boyle has 4a wrapped up.

I think all will agree that it will be a fight to the finish with Johnson Central.

Go Rebels

With all the talk about "lock down" defense vs. run, what were the stats from the Bell County game from last year? I don't recall how well the Bobcats did or did not run vs. Boyle.
