If Boyle wins that does not mean they have 4A locked up by no means, trust me.

While I agree that it's way to early for a team to be "locking" anything up, I do have to say that it will look VERY IMPRESSIVE if Boyle County wins, since a lot of people are thinking that JC is the second-best team in Class 5A heading into the 2009 season.

 

This game has got to be one of the very best match-ups of the opening week.

With all the talk about "lock down" defense vs. run, what were the stats from the Bell County game from last year? I don't recall how well the Bobcats did or did not run vs. Boyle.

 

Bell County beat us with the quick short pass. Their passing game is what beat us. I can't access the stats to the game because I am at work, but I think Bell averaged about 3-4 yards a carry maybe. IMO, they hurt us a lot worse with their passing game. I really don't recall their running game doing a lot more than chewing up a lot of clock. They got first downs on the ground when they needed, but I wouldn't say that they ran the ball against us like they did against everyone else on their schedule. It was the short pass that I remember driving me nuts in the stands last year.

 

I think Jarrod Polson is the only person who broke a long run on our defense for a td and Mercer had a good long run(but didn't score) against our defense, but for the most part, opposing rb's rarely got good runs. Simply put, you did not run the ball on us at all last year. Ask Danville fans about our run defense last year.

 

I was one of the big mouths who said Bell County would have to pass the ball to beat us........and well......that's what happened.

 

I know we may not have seen a running attack like Johnson Central's before, but I believe French and the boys will be ready. I love the fact that this is a home game.

Obviously, I know that one game doesn't make a season. Boyle will be in the mix come November for certain.

 

But, if they beat JC...look for them to have a very successful season.

To me, that's probably the advantage in this one. Both teams should be pretty even, and with it being opening night, I wouldn't expect either to be moving like a well-oiled machine. Because of that, give the slight edge to Boyle County because it's at Rebel Stadium.

After seeing Johnson Central first hand I will tell you that they are an outstanding football team. Their defense is as agressive as I have seen and they bring it every play. They have several kids who can run the ball on the offensive side. They are not super fast but they hit the holes hard and are very quick. I look for them to do very well this year and they will be in the mix late in the playoffs again. As for the Boyle vs JC game, I hate to say one or the other because I have not seen Boyle but it will be a dog fight I am sure and should be decided by 7 point or less. Turnovers and speacial team will be the key, whoever creates the most turnovers and has the biggest special teams plays will win this game. IMHO!

With this being one of the "most watched" games of the week I figured that there would be alot more post. Now, I expect an exciting game because these two teams aren't exactly familiar with each other. I also expect both teams to come out hitting the ground running playing smashmouth football. There should be no blowout in this game. Guys, I'm ready for some football. :popcorn:

Johnson Central is definitely a team capable of beating Boyle County. However, as we all know the Boyle County defense is on lockdown against the run. Johnson Central will remember the name Grant Aumiller if he is 100% ready for the game. But it's not just Aumiller anchoring this defense because every kid is preached everyday to swarm the football and to make sure that they wrap, but Aumiller just happens to stand out more because he makes big plays. Boyle County is a fundamentaly(sp) sound defense all around so I'm going to take Boyle in the game because of the run defense but I also predict a very close game. :ylsuper:

I can't wait to be on my way home from work and pass Rebel Stadium and see the flags on top of the bleachers signaling that there is a home game tonight.
