They didn't keep him either. Big surprise! Nats don't need him, just another bad move by leather pants. And do they apply to Votto now? Votto? No. 353 avg. Plays hard every play. Actually has improved in the field. Dunn's best season was in 04. He never matched those #s which the Reds needed him to do. Now if Votto goes complete months hitting .166 with next to no production like Dunn did here, then I would have concerns, especially if his salary crippled the Reds like Dunns did. Apples and Oranges at this point. Don't follow Texiera and basically don't care. Anyone who thinks Dunn would markably help this years Reds team hasn't watched the past 8 years. I am speaking in what has happened and you are speaking in what ifs. We don't even know what Dunn would be doing if still with this club. He has already stated that this off season he was refocusing and getting serious about how he approached the game. Interesting. Sort of lends credence to all of us who questioned his fire and passion for the game, if not his pyhsical condition. You take Dunn, enjoy his prodigious home runs, amd you have fun watching the other teams playing in October, because that is where you and Adam Dunn will be every season he plays.

But once again he is putting them up with a losing team with no pressure to win ball games. I am not sold on Dunn till I see him doing it on a contender. Which we he hasn't in his entire career." Does the same apply for Votto, at least until he does it for a contender?
July 27, 200917 yr Dunn was in Cincy quite a while and never let them to anything. He is not the reason this season is lost. Bringing in Gonzalez and Hernandez and Tavares did nothing for this team.
July 27, 200917 yr Guy called in on 700 WLW and made a striking point about how bad the Reds are. Only Votto and Phillips could start over any of the Nationals starting 8. The other 6 starters at the position they are playing would sit the bench. THAT is how bad this Reds team is. A fan called in and said Dusty should have got thrown out to put some fire into the team. Point made was that fire only helps when there is talent to fire up. No talent on this Reds starting 8, no matter who it is, except for the above mentioned Votto and Phillips.
July 27, 200917 yr I don't think the Reds are all that bad, but isn't is amazing how it seems every year, the Reds play good enough in the 1st half to be in contention, only to fall WAY off in the 2nd halft
