Harang has had 10 starts since coming back after the rain delay. One of those starts he went two innings because of rain....so in reality 9 starts.

 

6 of those 9 starts have been quality starts. He can't control that he gets little run support. His ERA has jumped because of 3 bad starts. What's more telling....6 quality starts or 3 bad starts?

 

Decided to look at Harang's starts before the Houston game...

You keep raking on him about his attitude but I haven't seen that lately out of him unless I haven't been paying attention. I thought that by all accounts he had been less attitudinal, am I mistaken?

 

Did you see his body language during his last start. He quit and gave up after Manny hit a 2 run triple in the first. From that point on he quit pitching and just started throwing it all over the place.

But I don't think that incident has caused Harang to pitch any less effectively than he was pitching prior to the incident. He has had several quality starts - mixed in with a couple of bad outings - since the rain delay game. He had several quality starts - mixed in with a couple of bad outings - prior to the rain delay game. Bottomline is that Harang is just not as consistent or effective as he used to be.

 

Bottomline is also that Dimwit Dusty is an ineffective manager who mishandles pitchers and needlessly risks their health.

May be just me but I have noticed when he starts to get pounded and D.Pole, Baker, the catcher or anyone else talks to him he appears to "blow them off" like he is saying "I know what I am doing, you now nothing". I also agree with an earlier post in that he seems to quit whenever he gets in trouble on the mound. I have noticed Bailey seemingly "ripping" on teammates if they make a bad play/error. Should Bailey not offer up "bp"/average padding pitching most of the time he may have a point in getting on a teammate :irked:.

Those are just a couple of my observations/opinion on him, I obviously am not there and could be wrong. I just think he has a lousy attitude, like a spoiled brat.

Such is the malaise of Reds fans who are forced to root for a perenially underperforming team. You keep trotting out the same mantras - "Next year they will compete", "next year they will be much improved", "'this (marginal) player (i.e., Taveras, Patterson, etc..) will really help them out a ton", "that player (Encarnacion, Bailey, Bruce) is finally ready to come into their own", "this GM really has a solid game plan to turn them around", and on and on. At the end of the day, 2009 will likely be yet another in a long line of Reds teams that finish well below .500 and may even cast off some of their better talent in exchange for "future" prospects that may "one day" prove their worth on the field. Unfortunately, it seems as though the "future" never arrives here in Cincinnati. It's a never-ending cycle and it does get frustrating.

I don't care. Who makes the final decisions? Pole is terrible too. Harang probably wanted to go back out to get the win obviously and that was selfish. Dusty could have shut him down 15 minutes into the delay and Harang may have been mad. Who cares? It's about the team long term not getting a player 1 win 50 games into the season.

I agree that Dusty is terrible. My only question is what if it did have an effect on Harang? It's your opinion it didn't, but w/ the way last year went it could have.

I think last year's situation was much more agregious and that it did indeed have an effect on Harang in the latter part of the season. There was a very clear difference in his effectiveness after he did the short-rest relief stint. I think this years is worse b/c he saw how terrible of a decision last years was first hand. Why chance the same thing this year w/ a guy who all the controversy surrounded last year? We're seriously talking about him waiting over 2 hours just to record one out. He's not pitching for next years contract. He's good to go.

Another terrible game by the Reds Offense. Starting eight should be ashamed with the Offense they put out except Hanigan. Phillips and his new necklace grounded into another double play and Votto look at the third strike to end the game with him being the tying run. The Reds long gone!!! Done!!! Done!!! Done!!!:irked::irked::irked:
