May 19, 200917 yr For the record, Coach K never recruited him the way Calipari did. Coach K definitely recruited Wall, but, IMO, I don't think he recruited him with the vigor that Calipari did. The one and done stuff is garbage though. We just don't land the one and dones, but we recruit them just like everyone else does. Why would a one and done go there in the first place? The last few years have shown us that you don't have to be at Duke, UNC, UK to be highly picked, so Duke will struggle to get these type of players, if they even really want them in the first place. If I was only going to go to school for one year, it certainly wouldn't be somewhere as academically challenging as Duke. I think that has to factor in. Now if I knew that I was going to be a 3 or 4 season player, Duke would be high up there not only because of academics, but the strength and prestige of the program and to play for one of the best coaches in the country.

IMO, I don't think it has anything to do with Wall being one and done. I just think there are times that coaches feel they are waisting their time with the recruiting of certain players and Coach K knew that Wall was not coming to dUKe. dUKe will be fine without him, but he sure would have not hurt them.
May 19, 200917 yr I guess ESPN's Doug Gottlieb's 100% guarantee that Wall would not sign with UK after we signed Bledsoe was 100% false...gotta love Gottlieb being wrong again!!! At least Doug has been consistant. I like to be able to depend on someone.

May 19, 200917 yr Cal now has a better recruiting class at UK than he would have had at Memphis. Not only did he bring in the top recruiting class on paper of all time, he's managed to luckily escape Patterson's leave to the NBA (and hopefully Meeks as well). This team, regardless of the incoming freshman/signees will be dominant.
