May 19, 200917 yr This class will have to make the finals for them to be considered the best. Thats what Michigan did. If only Dale Brown didn't get hurt, UK had a very good chance to win that Final Four game. Man, I'm old...:ohbrother:
May 19, 200917 yr Great to welcome Wall as a Wildcat!!:dancingpa Even if it is only for one year this is BIG! I have said on here before and stand by I wish there were some kind of 3 year rule (before jumping to the NBA) with college basketball but as te most overused phrase goes....."it is what it is" and I am glad to have Wall at U.K.. :ylsuper::ylsuper: U.K. BASKETBALL...."The Commonwealths Team"..........."Envy our Past, Fear our Future"!!
May 19, 200917 yr You think academics might be one of the reasons? I'd say that has a lot to do with it. I wouldn't want to be academically challenged for 1 year if I knew I was leaving after 1 year, but I would still go to Duke.
May 19, 200917 yr Why do you think Coach K did not recruit him as hard? IMO, I don't think it has anything to do with Wall being one and done. I just think there are times that coaches feel they are waisting their time with the recruiting of certain players and Coach K knew that Wall was not coming to dUKe. dUKe will be fine without him, but he sure would have not hurt them. 1. Coach K didn't go all the way to Portland to just say hi to John Wall like Calipari did. Calipari couldn't even watch the game, but there he was after the Nike Summit, talking to John Wall in the hotel lobby. That says a lot to me as a recruit. 2. Coach K is in Wall's backyard, yet is was Cal who allegedly went to Wall's school after another recruit, but allegedly found Wall and had time to say hi. I haven't heard any stories about Coach K supposedly eating lunch with Wall. 3. Depending on what you want to believe, Coach K missed a flight home from his book tour and missed and never rescheduled his meeting with Wall. Even just taking the top 2, it doesn't appear that K recruited him as hard as Cal did.
May 19, 200917 yr Why would a one and done go there in the first place? The last few years have shown us that you don't have to be at Duke, UNC, UK to be highly picked, so Duke will struggle to get these type of players, if they even really want them in the first place. If I was only going to go to school for one year, it certainly wouldn't be somewhere as academically challenging as Duke. I think that has to factor in. Now if I knew that I was going to be a 3 or 4 season player, Duke would be high up there not only because of academics, but the strength and prestige of the program and to play for one of the best coaches in the country. Duke has been struggling getting these types of players, but 2010 already has brought in a promising class with 3 signees, Seth Curry, and a legitimate shot at Harrison Barnes as well. I don't mind missing out on the 1 and dones as much I hate missing out on guys you know will contribute for 2-4 years, like Patrick Patterson. He'd have made a significant difference in Duke's success had he come to Duke. I agree wholeheartedly with your 2nd paragraph, but I love Duke so much, I'd probably go there anyways if they wanted me.

I wouldn't want to be academically challenged for 1 year if I knew I was leaving after 1 year, but I would still go to Duke.I would assume that is a huge part of it. If I am a one and done student, NO way am I going to a school with Duke's academic prowess.
May 20, 200917 yr I would assume that is a huge part of it. If I am a one and done student, NO way am I going to a school with Duke's academic prowess. Duke has lower admission standards for scholarship athletes than the rest of the student body. http://www.truthaboutduke.com/not_royal.php
May 20, 200917 yr 4 million bucks and you get a guy who can land almost any recruit.... But for 2.5 million we had a guy who could only land 6th graders.
May 20, 200917 yr This one went pretty much how I expected and predicted a few weeks ago except Miami ended up the sleeper team and not Kansas. From day 1 he wanted to play for Cal, and while Clifton had some influence he wasn't going to get the final say...

Champ???
May 20, 200917 yr GT, where do you honestly see UK getting to next season??? Elite 8? Final 4? Champ??? 2nd weekend, and see what happens from there. The talent is there, but the experience isn't so you have a lot of variables to play out before you can say just how deep they go...
May 20, 200917 yr I think Pilgrim not only stays, but he plays and a lot. Right now, I see Liggins and Stewart as gone. Haven't made up my mind on #3, yet. But, that's today. I may feel differently tomorrow.
May 20, 200917 yr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at4OQvNlxSw :popcorn: If I'm ever challenged to fight someone in an octagon thats my intro music. I think it would be great to introduce Coach Cal and the rest of the team to that music at Midnight Madness.
