Congratulations to Holmes. They beat Scott Co. early in the season and regardless of their ranking stake their claim on being #1 and never really gave it up. They have an excellent team and program.

 

After the game I seen one team celebrating an amazing accomplishment while the other team was laying there heartbroken and that was a shame. Both teams deserve to win. I was so impressive with those kids from Central! Also the job Bibby has done is amazing. I am also very impressed with how he handles his kids.

After 31 years of remembering the missed call that was right in front of me at Freedom Hall. I have a picture of Charley Hurt with his hand up through the basket knocking out Beal's shot and the referee looking right up at it. Finally, I can get that bad tase out of my mouth! Seriously though, CONGRATULATIONS HOLMES BULLDOGS 2008/2009 BOYS STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All us alums are VERY PROUD of you!!

Someone needs to contact the people at Artimis (the folks who control the message boards on I-75/71) and have them display on the message board "Congrats to Cov Holmes Ky State HS Basketball Champions" so the players can see how much the entire Region of NKy appreciate their hard work and how proud we are of them...

 

I know your not to reply to your own post, but bear with me...

 

I just got off the phone with the Artimis folks and requested them to post my above comment. The woman who is in Ohio told me she would ask her supervisors about posting the above tomorrow. Sure hope it happens and if it does I think it will be neat for the players to see.....

Congrats to the Bulldogs. Great game and great tournament. Way to never give up when times got tought. It was well deserved.

I'd love to come home and see that posted on Artemis. I loved how alumni of all ages came out to support our team.

really awesome to read how well you all embrace this (NKY folks), I wish us Louisvillians would really get behind our programs like you all do.....really awesome.

I was thinking it just might be Central's night to pull the upset two times towards the end of regulation. 1)The young man banked in a 3. 2)The Dawgs missed a bunny for the win. Outstanding game and effort by every young man that tapped in at the scorer's table. I really did not see any D1 basketball talent on Central but they are a great TEAM.

Just got back to the Hotel and I have one word.... Wow! Central really surprised me, I didn't underestimate them but they shocked me with there ability to score from outside, especially number 3. Holmes, built a house from the arc with there bricks early but got focused and played intense for the duration of the game. Missed jump shots didn't discourage them and foul trouble didn't slow them either. They played well through out this tournament and showed alot of people, it wasn't just hype. Hats off to Central for a well played game though. They really turned it on this post season.

 

One last thing.... GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!

Happy for folks like Coach Henley, John Wimzie, Ron Madrick, and the gentleman who has been the official scorekeeper for Holmes for 40 years.
