Asking in and of itself is not why those two were allowed to move up. The state looks at what impact staying in their assigned class has vs moving to a larger class. The state did deny some schools request to move up.

I don't think there is one line in the above post that is accurate. Although Beechwood is a middle of the pack Class A school in size, I am sure they would have gone up to Class AA if they would have been allowed. As others have stated here and in previous threads, the state would not allow Beechwood to move up in class.

Beechwood stayed in 1A, because the khsaa wouldn't allow them to move up. There wouldn't be enough 1A schools in NKY to form a district if they had moved up. With Brossart and Walton Verona starting football programs, I'd look for Beechwood to possibly move up to 2A in the near future.

Beechwood stayed in 1A, because the khsaa wouldn't allow them to move up. There wouldn't be enough 1A schools in NKY to form a district if they had moved up. With Brossart and Walton Verona starting football programs, I'd look for Beechwood to possibly move up to 2A in the near future.

Beechwood is not geographically isolated playing in 1A with or without Brossart and WV. I just don't see Beechwood ever being permitted to move up unless the criterion is changed.

Got it. Highlands moved up to 5A, because there was no 3A (or 4A) district in NKY. CCH moved up to 5A, because there wasn't a 4A district in NKY. I didn't realize there was a restriction based on this. I thought it dealt with the # of teams within the district for the area. With 1A having 6 teams now, I thought that would give Beechwood the ability to move up to the 2A district that currently has 4 teams.

At Beechwood, the staff instills in them the fact that Ft. Mitchell doesn't accept a loss like in other places. Losing is not an option. And if they do lose, well trust me, the young men aren't very happy for a long time.

 

What "other places" are you claiming accept loss more than Ft. Mitchell does? Just curious, because I grew up in Ft. Mitchell, played at Cov Cath, and I'm good friends with graduates (several of which are former players) from Beechwood, Ryle, Boone County, Highlands and New Cath. I don't know any of them that take a loss any better than another. So where does your statment of "fact" come from? :irked:

I haven't had a chance to follow Beechwood in the last couple of years as I usually have. Are they playing as much "iron man" football these? In the Yeagle years, he'd sometimes have 7 or 8 guys going both ways. I know their depth charts are somewhat limited in numbers, so I would assume that is Coach Rash's gameplan as well.

 

Also, given that Beechwood seems to be a little more built for speed rather than size. How do you think that is going to match up in the first few weeks of their season since they're going to be jumping in for the time being with the "bigger" programs?
