With Coach Rash you can always expect good things.:notworthy:

The Wood is the Team to beat in Class A........

This will be an interesting year at Beechwood. They have a small senior class - only 8 seniors. All 8 are solid players but depth will be a concern. The line will be smaller than it has been the last few years, and inexperienced. I expect the team to be very fast, especially on defense. Beechwood may be playing more sophomores than they have in quite a while. It will be more of a challenge than ever to repeat again but Coach Rash and his staff really have the program rolling. I am sure the Tigers will be up for the challenge. No one outworks the Tigers.

If the Tigers can win it this year I think they win it 5 or 6 in a row with the incomming class the next few years. Their first 3 games is brutal. I think this will help them come playoff time.

The freshman class (next year's sophomores) obviously are a great group so I agree this is a hump year in some ways. And I keep hearing about all the younger talent coming but only 12 kids signed up for freshman football. Most of those kids are very talented and the team will be good if they stay injury free. But they better hope a few more kids jump on board.

Why the small turnout?

Why the small turnout?

It is just a combination of things. Some kids who would be starting players are leaving. One is going to Ohio to wrestle. Another is going to where his Dad coaches football in Ohio. A third is moving from the area. Then you have 4-5 kids who are totally focused on other sports and are choosing not to play football. There are a solid 7 or 8 athletes in the class who are just not playing football for a variety of reasons. It is just one of those weird things. Probably similar to what made this coming year's senior class only 8 strong. But with the schedule Beechwood plays on the Freshman level now, they really need a few more bodies. I am sure the usual 2-4 out of district and/or catholic school kids will enroll next year so hopefully that happens and they are ok.

Beechwood is going to be very small next year in terms of length and size. But they are going to be young and some of the upcoming sophomores will probably see a lot of playing time like Staten. They are going to be fast on defense but I dont know who will be their starting line. Adams? Maricle? Genal? Jackson?

Others have mentioned many of my thoughts. Beechwood will be good in 2009 but I believe the 2009 Tigers will be one of the weaker Beechwood teams of the last two decades. However, even a weaker Beechwood team in watered down 1A is a threat to win a title.

I will close with this, if Beechwood is able to win it all in 2009 there is no end in sight to the consecutive titles they will win.

I think you are right on target Guru. If Beechwood wins the title next year, they could make a run at 5 or even 6 in a row with the talent coming in the lower grades.

Beechwood also returns their starting QB Rigdon.

Which is a good thing because they will need more passing offense next year. Hopefully a year's experience will be well served and Rigdon can generate more passing offense in 2009.

Does anyone have their schedule this year?

I believe it is the same as last year with one big exception - Highlands replaces Lloyd.
