But you have left off the best senior in the state - Central LB Tim Patterson.

 

He's 6-5, 225 and a beast. The few times I have seen him I thought he was the best player on the defense, including Wilson and Cobble.

 

Heard an interview with the Central coach last week and said besides UK and U of L that Florida, USC, Florida State and Alabama are on him.

From the Trinity camp, I see Dylan Kupper, Robert Watson and Danny Longshore stepping up big time at the varsity level. Kupper could play both sides of the ball on the line. Watson and Longshore will be defensive stalwarts along with Sam Shadowen and Dillon Futrell, the possible heirs at linebacker.:popcorn:

 

TE Shane Neal stepped up big after Carrico's injury in the state semi-finals and should get better with more reps with the ones. WR Rob Melillo is a speedster who can beat you with kick returns or make opposing DBs wish they had gone out for another position. Xavier Thomas' development at running back will be very important to the Shamrocks attack. He has the tools and he simply needs to harness his talent.

 

Punter and kicker Nick Robertson is a weapon and should become more effective in 2009 as he and his teammates increase their strength, agility and knowledge in the off-season (off-season is a misnomer at Rock Heaven). The DRIVE for FIVE has begun! :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I believe Josh Lewis returns this season at either DE of LB. He looked like a mini Jordan Whiting as a sophomore and sat out his junior season to concentrate on school. Watson and Longshore have won JV most valuable Dline awards the past two seasons and are itching to be full time varsity starters.

Tim Patterson is awesome. Hope he gives the Cats a hard look, but I heard UL was a lock.

This class could be the best to come out of the state in years. It will be exciting to see.

You have to take a look at Jacob Russell 6'4'' 230lb QB from Anderson Co. He is possibly the best D-1 QB prospect in the state. Getting looked at by some major D-1 programs. Has the combination of size, speed, and arm strength to be a D-1 starter.

 

Matt Axline from Shelby County:

6'5 270 OT Great feet.

Rees MacShara, RB, Boyle County.

 

As a junior last year, he was up there with the best RB's in the state as far as numbers. He ended up last year with @ 1800 yards rushing and 32 total td's. He may not win Mr. Football, but at the very least he should be mentioned with the 10 best players in the state if we are going to go by stats and a team's record.

 

Rees majorly impacts both and I expect big numbers from Rees and a very good record and run for state title number 6 for Boyle County next year also.

Fort Campbell's Antonio Andrews should be in the running for Mr. Football.

 

I also think that Casey Miller will have a big impact on the defensive side of the ball.

Not to be too biased, I just watched the video of the Russell kid, and it seems to me like everyone on not only his squad, but opposing squads, he's much bigger than. He looks like a major talent to keep an eye on.

 

And from experience, I saw MacShara run only once last year, on a cold frozen feild, and only two words are needed to describe it - FAST, Elusive. He makes tremendous cuts, had the QB been scanning the feild better, MacShara was open all night comming out of the backfield after he made his cut to the middle of the feild vs. Bell County, Very interested in not only seeing him again come November, but keeping up with how he does on his senior campaign. Very good looking class so far.

Dwight Tillman - Frankfort 6'2 180 lbs. Tillman should add 15 - 20 lbs over the spring getting in the weight room.

Rico Brown from Madison Southern is a player who is 6'0" 185 and can move (legit 4.5), he has already been on visits to Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Louisville, and WKU. There is also beginning to be a little interst from UK. Rico has been the lone bright spot for Madison Southern the last few years. Coach Brumley has got his kids buying in to the weightroom this winter, and I can already see a difference in my kid, from following the lead of Rico. This kid is under the radar a bit, but Rico is a sure D-1 player.

You are right, it looks that way because Russell is bigger. Ha Ha he was bigger than his linemen and was the strongest kid in the weight room.

I have not heard that one. I know Bell plays Alcoa Tn. to kickoff the season. I think they have the entire season filled, with only 1 contract pending???

 

That would be a very interesting game for sure, but I don't think a "young Bell Co. team" would be ready for Boyle yet. :thumb:
