January 31, 200917 yr So frustrating to get up by 10 and then blow it. Downey is sick though. How do you guard that high arcing fade away? I agree that he is very good, you can't defend that arching fade away but you can dang sure stop him from penetrating the middle with the ball!:madman: It doesn't matter how good of a team you are or how much talent you have; without a point guard it is hard to win. The point guard is generally the leader on the team, we have no point guard(s) !!! :thumb: Really? How stubborn does the guy have to be to continue to let Downey penetrate into the middle of the lane with short jumpers? If you're not putting your team in the best position to win a ballgame, then you're not doing a very good job as a coach. :thumb: I agree, that was my problem with him today, Going to have to regroup and get ready for Miss St. :thumb: That' all we can do. I'm not giving up on BCG yet. :thumb:I am not either, just pointing out some of my frustatons and opnions on him with today's game along with the Ole Miss game. Did some of the UK coaches (I won't say names) not shake hands? I saw that, BCG normally walks past very fast win or lose and if he shakes hands at all it is in passing without stopping.
January 31, 200917 yr I'm not a B-Ball guy, but someone explain to me when the Cats are up one point and the guard for USC comes down for his trademark pull up 12 footer, why not be in a zone and force a longer shot? Or play the kid the way people are playing "D" on Jodie? I don't feel this coach is a good fit for the Cats and I've seen every game the Cats have played this season and last years too. Finally on the last shot by the USC guard, The coach has to be the man, the kids do what they are told. We all have played in some form and you don't give up that attempt.
January 31, 200917 yr I can certainly understand the frustration. There is ZERO question what Downey was going to do there outside of the exact spot he was going to stop. Go 1-3-1 with Harris or Stevenson out top and at least make him think a little. Meeks had no chance...
January 31, 200917 yr Why is harris considered our top defender? He gets beat off the dribble all the time. I think this is usually when he is guarding the opponents point guard who is typically smaller and much faster.

January 31, 200917 yr I thought that UK could have gotten a better look with 3.2 seconds left than a half court heave. I heard Coach G after the game tell Tom Leach that they were trying to draw a foul in the backcourt on the inbounds play.........not much of a plan if you ask me since you are not going to get that call 99% of the time.
