January 31, 200917 yr Just watched the news and saw the talked about hand shake snub. It looked to me more like a couple of camera guys split them up. However if Im wrong there is no reason for Billy to act like this.

Some of his motivational foolishness is good stuff, but he's seeing now why it was important to develop certain players during the developmental games. There is enough talent on this roster to be a top 15 team. I won't make a final evaluation until after the season, but the team should be improving at this juncture. Agreed. Its a question of developing the younger players more quickly. You've got to have the bench support faster in today's day and age. It is almost as if he works the first 6 or 7 guys only in practice, and when anyone else gets out there its as if they are lost. Fast development is a necessity in the NCAA today.
January 31, 200917 yr Really? How stubborn does the guy have to be to continue to let Downey penetrate into the middle of the lane with short jumpers? If you're not putting your team in the best position to win a ballgame, then you're not doing a very good job as a coach. I really don't think a zone would have been any better. Downey and Frederick were hitting 3's like it was nothing. Coupled with the fact that we were already getting crushed on the boards, I don't think a zone would have put us in a better position to win. On an interesting side not, my high school coach was the exact same way- too stubborn to switch to a zone when everyone (including assistants) wanted to make the switch- yet he is lauded as a top tier coach. And he had more talent than BCG has (relatively speaking.....)
January 31, 200917 yr So, we should get rid of our coach? Yes, and don't let the door hit you in the rear. I would have got rid of him after last years loss to Gardner-Webb. He is a pathetic excuse for a coach.
January 31, 200917 yr Give South Carolina the credit, as they hit the boards when needed and made the critical 3's. Dribble penetration has hurt the 'Cats all year, in trying to stop on one end and not getting from their own PG, on the other. In time, I think Liggins and Miller will score but they're adjusting to this team. Porter and Harris offer nothing of value offensively. I'll disagree and say UK lacks offensive talent, other than Meeks and Patterson. Stevenson can give you some help but only 2 real threats to score, makes it much easier to defend. Work in progress.
February 1, 200917 yr Missed this one because I was at a high school game, glad I did. Seems a long time ago that UK looked to be in good shape in the SEC.
February 1, 200917 yr UK is lacking the Art of Boxing out...:isurrender: Nope, not it. They have a problem with stopping penetration. When the guards penetrate and the big guys have to rotate over to the guard the ball there is no one left at home to block out the big guys for South Carolina.

February 1, 200917 yr Here is the ironic part of this thread. 1) UK's problem today defensively was that they have no point guard to penetrate and get into the lane. 2) How can UK let South Carolina who has a great point guard penetrate and get into the lane the whole game? If you expect UK to stop the other team's point guards, why are you expecting a true point guard to solve UK's offensively problems and other teams not be able to stop UK's point guards like you are expecting UK to stop other team's point guards.

Any team that will contend and require the defense to extend, while denying the perimeter will have a true PG. If UK had any PG, who could dribble penetrate and then kick, not only would the post get more touches/scores, but it would allow more open 3's.

There are 2 that I can think of, the rest are mostly role players at best IMO. Of which, none are very good perimeter shooters.
