South Carolina:

15-4 OVERALL

4-2 SEC

#56 RPI

 

Based on these two things, these teams are evenly matched and South Carolina could be a hair better (based on RPI). I just think too many people are lamenating this loss way to thick.

 

Trust me, I am very upset that they lost and I think they should/could have one. But the balls don't always bounce your way. Kentucky seemed to get the bad end on some of the whistles today and things didn't work out so well.

I agree 100%. Gillispie does things that irk many, including me. Several games could have probably entered the W-column if he added a zone to that defense.

It doesn't matter how good of a team you are or how much talent you have; without a point guard it is hard to win. The point guard is generally the leader on the team, we have no point guard(s) !!![/quote

 

I'm not blaming the loss on the Porter or Liggins, but this team has no leader running the offense. Sure they have two of the top players in the SEC but you can only go so far without a good lead man. With that being said, Perry needs to be able to convert from the line, and the last play was less than spectacular.

I think he was bringing it up the floor and wasn't expecting to be fouled because I was right there at the game, two rows from the court, and the South Carolina players were upset that the foul was called. Luckily for them, it turned out in their favor.

You can't run an offensive set with 4 players. Any team that will contend and require the defense to extend, while denying the perimeter will have a true PG.

 

If UK had any PG, who could dribble penetrate and then kick, not only would the post get more touches/scores, but it would allow more open 3's.

Still, bottom line - don't inbound the ball to Stevenson. In that situation, you get the ball to Meeks.

Tough loss for UK, but I still think they are the best the SEC has to offer.

In game coaching situation that Billy messed up. Thats shocking. You guys knew from day 1 that wasn't his thing.

I have always thought BCG's strengths were recruting and conditioning...thus the constant man to man. I have never been sold on his game coaching. Couple that with an average team, and there can be some head scratching losses.

No, but he needs to take a look in the mirror. Some of his motivational foolishness is good stuff, but he's seeing now why it was important to develop certain players during the developmental games. There is enough talent on this roster to be a top 15 team. I won't make a final evaluation until after the season, but the team should be improving at this juncture.
